The Old Folks Home

Oh, for Heaven's sake,SCG it seems like if it's not one thing after your birds, it's another three. I seem to remember seeing the evidence of a previous demonstration of your marksmanship, so I feel pretty sure that if Monsieur Reynard pokes his long nose into your hen house again, it will be for the last time.

I'm trying to remember - was it on this thread that we were talking about lightning striking a chicken run? It happened to me today. Actually, the lightning hit a large (pine) tree at the end of the run; it looks like the lightning probably traveled the last few feet to the ground through the fence wire. I can now confirm that chickens can be within 20 feet of a lightning strike and live to cluck about it; though I have doubts about their being able to hear what each is saying.

Thanks for all the hugs and comments. I gotta say, I do rely on all of my "invisible friends" to help me keep my spirits up.

I never got into NCIS, or whatever the acronym for that show is. Just not my thing.

I do really enjoy and own Soldier. That is one of my mom's favorites too. She once watched it and kept track of how many words Kurt spoke. I forget what the tally was, but it was LOW!! I am pretty sure it was way under 50 total words. What a hoot.

I am leaving here on Sunday to go back home. Depending on the interview on Friday, I might have to come back down to help my mom get my dad into the home.... I dunno. Anyway, Friday, I should know on Friday.

What a pile of :sick which brings me to the mascacre that SCG just had. Blasted fox!!!!!! :fl that you get him quick, amd blast him into pink mist.... Or maybe just a tiny precise shot and keep the pelt?

Anyway, catch you all latter.

Vacation? Whats that? Fortunately im a stay at home retiree with nothing to do.....yeah, right! I wont get into the particulars but i cant afford a vacation. (One of these posts im just not going to edit this 'smart' phone text and see if anyone can understand the mess 'swipe' creates)

My 22 birds are very friendly (hungry?) And they mob us when we go in to feed them corn by hand. They see us walking by the coop and come running out into the run, right up to the fence. They are so aggressive they scare the kids and i have to distract them with corn tossed out a ways to thin them out or the kids couldnt feed them. They all eat from our hands now but they peck too hard for the kids hands so i have them toss it out for them. Even the turkeys eat out of my hand now.

I have an auracana rooster that is very timid but he tries to jump the hens now and crows. I remember my bantam learning to crow. Took him a while to get it right. This one took right off with a real crow, just a little croaky. He crows like a pro now and he is only 4 months old.

Ill get some pics of the kids feeding them and put them up. Im going out to collect eggs (forgot to do that).
