The Old Folks Home

I don't know, but it has all myDr.'s turning red in the face. I am trying to cut out everything I can to get it lowered. I told them I will not take the shots. The pills give me all kind of problems when I try to take them.

The injections that I'm familiar with for cholesterol is every other week injection.

I would seriously discuss your cholesterol with a pharmacist. Bring a copy of your labwork and they will be able to review your prescription record with you and you would have to tell them why you stopped taking the meds and what side effects you had. Pharmacists are drug experts, physicians are diagnosis experts. They would give you recommendations to take back to your provider. Depending on your state laws the pharmacist could also work directly with your provider to get you a prescription. Some states have official "medication therapy management" clinics with pharmacists for a copay and other pharmacists offer this service for free. If your pharmacist doesn't offer this, call your insurance company (the number on your card). Most of the larger ones have pharmacists on staff that can review your records and make recommendations to the provider.

There are many different meds for the type of cholesterol that ails you and strategies for reducing side effects.

Edited to add: you're likely going to want to seek out a pharmacist that graduated within the past 10 years.

...Um, just how does a balut have the same flavor and texture as a boiled egg? It is a bird that is just about ready to hatch. Bones, feathers, etc.
It's kind of difficult to explain, and it's been almost 30 years since I had one...

When you crack the shell, the inside is a solid "gelled" mass of chick/duckling that (in my case) was blackish/grayish in color. you could make out the beak and many of the external parts of the bird, and there appeared to be some pre-finished feathers and such. When I bit into it, it was very similar to biting into a boiled egg... same texture, same "give"/pressure required to bite through. The taste was also very similar to that of a boiled egg. There were no discernible "bones" or anything like that... everything was pretty much the same consistency... like a boiled egg

In case you wonder how this all came about, It was during my Chief's initiation in the Navy. As you may or not know, there were quite a few Filipinos in the Navy as once their service was done, they were automatically granted citizenship. And that's where the balut became very popular (the Philippines), though it may have started in China. Anyway, making us poor white folks eat a balut was a favorite initiation rite by the older Filipino Chiefs as part of initiation. It wasn't that bad really, though I'm not a big fan of boiled eggs. It would have been much better with a little salt... Sadly, salt wasn't provided, I guess they expected us old salts to scratch some from behind our ears...

Has anyone else here ever had a balut?

Waving white flag, to see if it is really safe to come back. UGH, TMI, that stuff is even scarier than kale. Maybe if they see I came back, they will follow suit.

Quote: The stains make my legs and muscles hurt. I have tried them all and cannot take them. I am not sure of the Niacin. But none of the meds have given me hives.
I try to walk as much as I can each day. But my hips is so bad that I am seeing an ortho Dr. in a couple weeks to see what he can do for it.

Quote: The shot my Dr. wanted me to take would be covered by our BC/BS but we will be loosing that when my husband retires in a few years. And the Dr. told me once you start these shots you cannot stop them. I don't want to take them.
I appreciate your helpful advice on this. I will talk to my insurance company to see if they have someone I can talk to. I two pharmacies that I use for different Dr.'s.
BC/BS probably has a Pharmacist employed with their company that I can talk to. Thanks
