I don't know, but it has all myDr.'s turning red in the face. I am trying to cut out everything I can to get it lowered. I told them I will not take the shots. The pills give me all kind of problems when I try to take them.
The injections that I'm familiar with for cholesterol is every other week injection.
I would seriously discuss your cholesterol with a pharmacist. Bring a copy of your labwork and they will be able to review your prescription record with you and you would have to tell them why you stopped taking the meds and what side effects you had. Pharmacists are drug experts, physicians are diagnosis experts. They would give you recommendations to take back to your provider. Depending on your state laws the pharmacist could also work directly with your provider to get you a prescription. Some states have official "medication therapy management" clinics with pharmacists for a copay and other pharmacists offer this service for free. If your pharmacist doesn't offer this, call your insurance company (the number on your card). Most of the larger ones have pharmacists on staff that can review your records and make recommendations to the provider.
There are many different meds for the type of cholesterol that ails you and strategies for reducing side effects.
Edited to add: you're likely going to want to seek out a pharmacist that graduated within the past 10 years.
