Yup, chronic wasting disease. Kinda like 'mad cow disease' in deer. Devastating, transferable, can wipe out whole herds. I believe it started in farmed deer and then transferred to wild populations in some states. In the beginning of the outbreak NY banned feeding deer. They still sell the feed and feeders at TSC and some other stores here though. Where deer congregate in large numbers, feeders, suburbs where their population is way too many, more chances of it.
None here, but they'd like to keep it that way.
That is so sad. There are some fenced land here that keep some type of hunting animals. I am not sure what kind but my dh has pointed the fencing out to me. It's likely deer.
We have many hunters here that camp in their travel trailers or campers or tents to hunt all about this area.
Some of the camps offer cabins with transport service and meals.
