The Old Folks Home

I've had big trucks and small cars, I definitely prefer small cars even if it is difficult getting the knees around the steering wheel. They just handle so much better and are more controllable in nasty weather. Stick in a small car even better, I've many times on not making hills throw her in reverse and crank the wheel spinning, back down the hill frontways slick as poo. Difficult doing with a auto, impossible with a big vehicle.
My favorite was a Subaru Justy, everyone called it my clown car. Told the guy I got it from had trouble getting the hood open, he said yeah it takes two people (he's short) nah, if I open the door I could pull the latch and lift the hood at the same time :-D
Thing was so small, I wear size 13 military mickey mouse boots during deer season, one boot covered two pedals, had to drive in my socks :-D

use to be able to walk through Juneau airport with rifle
and no one would notice

Was a time when most folks were armed and dangerous... to CRIMINALS! Now that all the "good guys and gals" have been effectively disarmed, the only armed folks are the bad guys or the govt. And the govt has openly stated that there purpose is NOT to protect individuals but to protect "society" as a whole... yup...

Can't imagine we'd have anywhere near as many of these mass murders if they had to contend with folks shooting them before they could accomplish much. I simply can't understand why normally intelligent folks can't figure this out, and support the lunatic disarmament/anti-gun lobby...

I agree.

I had a friend that used to hitchhike while carrying his rifle :lau people would pick him up too. The cops did tell him he should stop walking through town with it... I think the tourists freaked.

He was a great shot though... and introduced game is open season up here (ie pheasants) and they are great eating.

Years ago I had got a pistol permit after I was nearly robbed on my route collecting money.
The Sheriffs office got me my permit in 15 min. After I quit that job I no longer carried a pistol but I have always owned guns of some type.
My grandfather was a Police Officer in Minneapolis, MN for 26 years. And most of my family either is law enforcement or in the military one branch or another. I believe in the 2nd amendment!

*facepalm* I think I had a old person moment and quoted a years old post

My thought as well when I saw your post and didn't recognize the quoted post and clicked the "go to post" link.

Shifting

I can drive stick.
I can drive automatic.
LOVE my "there are no gears to shift" Prius. No lag and surge, just smoooooooth, like Guzzler's Gin

Don't even have to put it in Park, it does that when you turn it off.

I had an eye operation in Nov 2005. Couldn't drive for 2 weeks so wife had to drive me. The shifting in her car hurt my eyes so she drove me in my 2004 Prius. About the same time we decided the kids were tall enough they needed headrests in the back seat. Her 1996 Subaru Legacy didn't have them but her mother's 1997 Legacy did. Nothing else changed between the model years. I said we could just get a new rear seat back since the car was fine otherwise. She said she could get a Prius.

And she did. And she still has it 10.5 years and 150K miles later, drives it 70 miles round trip to work 6 days a week. My '04 with 130K+ miles was rear ended and totaled (on an interstate onramp!!!) in 2012. I replaced it with an '09 because I don't like the horrible ergonomics in the 2010 redesign. Haven't seen the inside of the '16 redesign, we don't need a new car. When we do, I expect it will be an Electric. Again no shifting. And no stopping at gas stations.
