The Old Folks Home

Went to the lung doctor today. All the progress I've made is reversing. I have bronchitis/pneumonia again. I have a lung function test tomorrow afternoon, then a PT scan on the 12th. That will satisfy the insurance company's criteria, so he can scope them, take specimens for the lab to analyze, and get more proactive with whatever is causing this.

Raised on a stick... 3 on the tree... then had 3 on the floor, then 4 on the floor, 5 on the floor, and then went to automatics. Can still drive either. Each has advantages/disadvantages.

Maybe I should have one of each and use according to need? Isn't that what we do with chickens... and ducks, and turkeys, and goats, and guns, and...

I haven't ever driven a 3 on the tree, just never had access to one to learn. Our truck is a 4 speed, but 1st gear is so low we don't use it, so it is functionally a 3 speed and there is something wrong in the transmission so it won't stay in 3rd if you let off the gas, so we pretty much put it in 2nd, take off, run it pretty high, shift to 3rd, gun it, shift to 4th....

I worked at an auto auction for a while where they had staff that drove the vehicles through the building and then took them back out and parked them. We were supposed to just grab the next thing in line, no picking and choosing what you drove, but there were 2 old guys and me that got put in all of the really old cranky straight drives because they scared the other girls so they always skipped them. Drove one massive pickup truck, think it was a 500 or something, nearly dumptruck sized, with wood sideboards... I couldn't even reach the pedals... I just put it in 1st and let it lope it's self to the building, and loped it back (uphill) to the parking lot the same way, never gave it gas... lol

Supervisor at work had one of those prius's, he hated it in winter. If there was a few inches of snow on the road it would take a few attempts to make each hill Lol! :-D

Years ago I had got a pistol permit after I was nearly robbed on my route collecting money.
The Sheriffs office got me my permit in 15 min. After I quit that job I no longer carried a pistol but I have always owned guns of some type.
My grandfather was a Police Officer in Minneapolis, MN for 26 years. And most of my family either is law enforcement or in the military one branch or another. I believe in the 2nd amendment!
I'm a pistol packin' grandma

Things are just gettin' too dicy for country folks up here these days. The "deplorables" from the city have decided country and cabin folks are easy targets. Think I said already (on this thread?) that I got myself and the DH concealed carry permits. The DH got me a "pocket pistol". A cute little 38 special. The hammerless model so there's no thumb piece sticking up to catch in your lining etc. Only took me a few shots to be sure I could hit where I was aiming. Now I have to find a nice pocket holster for it.
One good thing about our arctic blast hitting us this morning. Keeps the city deplorables in their city holes and the bears in their dens

BTW-my family too has a proud history of law enforcement both in the military and civilian. The 2nd amendment protects the good guys from the bad guys.
