The Old Folks Home

I do hope they get this fixed soon. But even with the correct boxes the login for username was overly sensitive for my browser trying to click on it to type in my name.
Most times it would make me click it several times before I could actually type in my name.
I have mine set to auto logon. I do not have to enter the password very often.

I did test it last night and I had to wait until the page fully loaded before I could click into the field and it was not the normal logon.

Seems like there may be a big update of the site going on.

Coop attire consists of rubber boots (they get disinfected frequently), jeans, tank top if it's warm out, t-shirt if it's cold, and a jacket if it's real cold. Hair is in various states of dishevelment, depending on time of day. Our new coop is almost complete. I need to get the hardware for the door closures, and the stuff to run electric, and water lines. I hope my chickens are in it within the next 2 weeks. When it's all done, I will put an open can of tuna in a couple of the coops, as a test for predators. If nothing can get in to the tuna, the chickens should be safe.

Yes, the log in is messed up even on Firefox.

Morning everyone. DH spent the evening last night updating my computer. I run Linux/Ubuntu as my operating system so I just leave it up to him. He does a great job. The only thing it doesn't do is repopulate my passwords so I had to log in here this morning. It worked fine except I had to use the 'forgot password' cue as it wouldn't accept my password that I just created for it. So I reset immediately and then it gave me a message that my token had expired. Huh? I used it within 5 minutes of receiving it but my husband pointed out that it had signed me in anyway.

SCG, I wish you luck, and hope you accomplish great things. While there are some "in perpetuity" cemeteries here, which means the price of perpetual care was built into the cost of the plot, most are not. Many of the older ones had gotten so run down, and because of vandals were in such disarray. Several years ago, a few people got together to form a committee to address the problems. They began putting up signs about who to call to give donations, whether money, or equipment, and posted a work day a couple months away. They called all the local churches, and the churches put it in their bulletins. They got it organized, and on the first work day, there were members of the families buried in there, girl scout troops, boy scout troops, and several other community type groups involved. The local equipment rental place donated some equipment to help with getting the toppled headstones put back in place, and pressure washing equipment. It was impressive how people turned out, and what was accomplished in just one work day. It was mowed, weeded, all the trash hauled off, headstones set back where they belonged, some of the headstones were pressure washed.

It was decided a fence was needed, and no donation too small. One of the fence companies agreed to put the fence in at cost. Within 6 months enough money was raised that the new fence was put up. The county put in a couple street lights along one side, which helped with the vandalism problem. At least one of the cemeteries had no water, so it took a little over a year to raise the funds for a well to be put in. All the while, they continued with 2 work days a year. None of these things happened over night, but over the past few years, the change has been amazing, and the cemetery is, once again, a safe, nice place to go.

There was an old inactive cemetery next door to us where we kept our second home in IL. DH and I would walk in it a lot and look at the tombstones. Many were dated as early as 1848. What was sad was that they had a pile of broken off tombstones that goodness only knew where they went. I don't think there was any record as to who was buried there but the township kept it mowed and tidy and the VFW guys kept the Civil as well as WWI and WWII graves decorated. They would let us know when they were coming to do their Memorial Day Gun salute and we would join them, firing their Garand rifles. DH tells me of walking there one night and finding glowing earth worms around one of the tombstones. I never saw those but spent many a summer afternoon laying out under the fir trees we had planted along the property edge popping ground squirrels with my .22. I hated those little rats as they would overpopulate the cemetery and migrate into my flower beds and dig up the yard.

Microchick how do you like Linux? I downloaded it but I am scared to try to use it. I don't want to try and not have all my drivers and not be able to use my computer.
But I am so tired of Windows doing what they want on my computer. Even after I told it no updates it still does them.

I'm with you Chicka... I could just stay signed in and shut everything down, but I don't like the idea of leaving an "open pathway" out into the ether... There have been times in the past when I've come to visit BYC only to find that my previous logout never "took"... That doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy... More like hot and spikey... If I can go out over it, then it stands to reason that someone could also come in over it. I too would love to get away from windows and microsoft, and would try linux, but have been out of the "computer guru" stage of life for a few years now. Used to be able to work on my own vehicle engines too... been a long time since I could do that either.
