@chickadoodles, I've been running Linux Ubuntu on my computer for several years now and love it. DH had Linux/Puppy on his but had to give it up as many of the applications he has to use uses Microsoft as their operating systems. Couldn't get me to go back to Windows.

I had to log in to BYC about an hour or so ago. Luckily I remembered (good guess) my password. But thought that was strange.

OH PLEASE hope they aren't doing something different to the website. The last big change drove a lot of folks away, and gave computer flunkees like me total misery.

I had my password saved on my comp but BYC kept telling me it wasn't the right password. Yes it was! Wish there was a 'whine' emoji. I wound up having to do the password reset pain in the hiney crapola but it then let me sign in, after I typed in the new password a couple of times.

I hate site updates. It's like going to the neighborhood grocery store where you know where everything is so you can breeze in, grab what you need and breeze out and suddenly discover that overnight they have gone in and changed everything around because they know it's going to be more convenient for the shoppers.

What ever they are doing to the site, I did get a 'the site is currently down for updates' notification a couple days ago.

I just wish they would give us a bit of a warning before they do this stuff.

Our neighborhood grocery store, as well as Target & Walmart, change the set ups many times in a year. My brother jokes that it is done to confuse shop lifters. Maybe he's right. But it also makes it very hard for regular shoppers and especially the elderly.

Generally they are doing all the moving around during the peak time for shoppers. They block aisles, or you find everything has been dumped in grocery carts all over the store, with no price stickers. Try to find a sales person to help you - what a joke.

Trying to find a sales person in almost any store has become very difficult in recent years. Another pet peeve is the checkout situation. It used to be that if too many customers were in line, they would open another register. Now, the stores don't care about inconveniencing the customer. It's about their bottom dollar, and not having pay wages, so they don't hire enough employees. I avoid using self checkout whenever possible too. With all the money they make, and so many out of work, they can easily afford to hire enough help.

Apparently Ikea changes their layout regularly to confuse the shoppers. The reasoning is that you can't go straight in and straight out with 1 item, you are forced to walk past everything else in the store first and on the way, you will likely find 10 more things you can't live without. Kind of like putting the candy right at the register, you are standing there bored waiting your turn and have nothing to look at but yummy chocolate....

I guess that is another benefit of living in a little town. We only have one grocery store, and yes they know it and price accordingly, but they always open another register if there are two or more in line and they insist on carrying your groceries out to your car for you. I have almost had a tug of war with them over my bag of groceries before.
