The Old Folks Home

I guess that is another benefit of living in a little town. We only have one grocery store, and yes they know it and price accordingly, but they always open another register if there are two or more in line and they insist on carrying your groceries out to your car for you. I have almost had a tug of war with them over my bag of groceries before.

Me too. I usually take my own groceries out in the cart and load them into the car. Our local small store asks me if I'd like help out. If DH is with me I tell them no, if not, yes, especially since my back has been giving me trouble. At the larger branch of the same line in a slightly bigger nearby city, I just about left my cart and asked for a refund because the sacker was overly insistent that he help me out with my groceries. Finally the checker told me that the store owner had recently went through and told the sackers that they HAD to help the ladies, especially the 'older' ones out with their groceries.

The 'older' reference set me off and I asked them whatever happened to the customer always being right and did they really think that all 'older' ladies were just freaking helpless? They told me it didn't matter. Please humor the carry out boy. I did, begrudgingly and I don't think I've been back to that branch since.

Ls I did get hacked 3 times in a month! It was ransomware. My IE provider had to get into my computer and restore it to factory settings and that was a two hour pain in the you know what!
I got an email the first time, 2nd time it was an email from Fed Ex stating they had a message for me about a package. The 3 time I tried to open a page and it popped up a red flashing screen!

malware bytes now has ransomware protection. The subscription is not that much.

@superchemicalgirl Right now Texas where I'm at is overcast, on/off drizzle, and cool (48F). Since the past 2 days were "open the house", mid 70s, sun shining, light breezes, this is slightly depressing. It's been a pretty wet 2017 so far. No drought here. I had to turn the heat back on as I was getting chilled. How's Vacationland?

One of the well represented grocery store chains in our area did a reorganization of their stores a number of months ago. The aim was to make the layout of all of their stores exactly the same, so that you could walk into one in any town and it would be just like the one you usually shopped in. They came close, but some stores had the deli/bakery in one place to start with, some another, and moving that would have meant rerouting things like plumbing and gas lines ($$$$ they really didn't want to spend), so some things just have to be different. I like shopping in their stores; I could almost do it in my sleep (sometimes, I think I do), and I can't count the number of times I have seen them open another register to try to clear a backlog of customers. Particularly during the busiest times, they also have one or two registers for the folks that have only a few items, so they don't have to stand there while $200 worth of groceries get rung up when they just went in for a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk. One thing that I haven't liked is that there is so little profit margin on most items, the higher-ups want to move a certain number of units to justify the shelf space, and that means that they may stop carrying less popular items without notice. For example, they no longer have rubber gloves in size "small;" they only have "medium" and "large."

Do y'all use adguard protection? I'd highly recommend it. It makes my computer load faster and blocks out all those pesky ads for ED medicines and regrowing your own hair that we all love so much.
