The Old Folks Home

I love the day I clean the coop and it smells like a pine forest that everyone has pooped in.
The second day the pine smell is gone and it is just all poop all the time.
Have you tried pdz? It helps somewhat.

I LOVE frogs! After a summer rain, I listen to see how many different species I can identify by their calls. With amphibians suffering major declines and extinctions all over the world, I do whatever I can to encourage them in my small part of the world; and am delighted to find them sheltering and feeding (and breeding!) in my yard.

We have millions of baby toads all over the place, but i prefer the box turtles. I guess there are probably frogs in the river as well. I have been spending most of my time building this coop.
On another topic, i showed DH my plans for the 20x10 goat shed and he had no comment so i guess that means it is ok! Or i am going to assume that any way. Once i get my coop finished i can start my next project. Maybe i will be ready for goats by spring.

This Neuro was great. Spent a lot of time with me. Working on two things with me. Going to try and get me on something good for migraines, my mri shows white matter, they think it's from migraines...not seeing mini strokes. And, he wants to check out my Arteries in my neck. Going to get an ultra sound on them. He is concerned about how I get worse with my balance when I bend my head down, or way back. I just try hard not to do that anymore. Man, this guy seemed to know his stuff. Hope we get some answers..may end up back to my cardiologist after some tests this Neuro is having done. I've had two heart albations in the past, been a long time since seeing anyone. At least I feel like someone is trying to help me. Finally. :)

That's a great feeling. I don't feel like my doctor gives a damn.

:thumbsup

I hope that it all gets figured out!
Falling is bad for Oldsters so be careful!

Bantam Favorolle! Very sweet breed. :) Made for a good mama too. :)

I really enjoyed the Favorolles I had once. They were way more delicate as chicks... died more easily. But they were perfectly hardy as adults, and the sweatest teddy bear types.

Every so often I get tempted to get more, then remember FEATHERED FEET!!!!

Never again feathered feet for me...I have a crazy amount of mud. After 6 WEEKS of daily rain we had a sunny day.

A single sunny day.

Everyone was so happy! (animals and humans) Actual warmth in the sunshine!!!

But then the rain returned. ....

At least I feel like someone is trying to help me. Finally. :)

That is such a great feeling! Doc that listens and truly knows his stuff! :ya

We have crickets. It's cooling down enough that they are making less and less noise out there. I like hearing a few at nights.

You are supposed to be able to determine temp by how fast they chirp.

I think @Beer can posted the formula once.

@Cynthia12, I'm so glad to hear that you have connected with a doctor that is listening to you and trying to help you. Hope they get to the bottom of your symptoms.

We had a rainy start to the day here. Needed the rain. Don't need the mud so I concentrated on doing more fall cleaning.

We have two ponds on our property, streams and a major creek on one boundary but what I really like is that there is a small lagoon behind the barn. It doesn't hold water as well as it used to-I hope to get a liner to drop into it someday-but it holds enough that in the spring the sound of toads and frogs is deafening. I love it. We also have an abundance of Skink lizards around the house. Every now and again one will sneak inside and I'll find it sitting near the deck door sunning itself with one of the cats watching it with less than honorable intentions. They are truly beautiful little reptiles with their pinstriped bodies and cobalt blue tails.

Sigh. Makes me sad that fall is bearing down upon us. Even though it was near 90 today, I see where next week the temp is only in the 60s.

Enjoy the frog sounds. Won't be long before those of us who have winter experience our first sub freezing nights. We will go to bed to silence outside and wake up to silence. No sound of birds singing and declaring their territories, no spring peeper frogs singing their brains out. No crickets or bugs raising a ruckus.......just winter cold and silence.....well except for our psychotic roosters, that is.

Gaaaaagh! I miss spring all ready!!
