arg!

Can't keep up!

achem...congrats to people with new new badges!

Hope no one is swept away with the new hurricane. ..getting hard to keep track of all the hurricanes this year! :hide

Awesome recipe sharing.

Eh on hominy... I had grits growing up, and creamed wheat. And stuff that is now seen as odd ... like blood sausage, goose fat smeared on bread, head cheese fried in bacon fat, cornmeal everything . .. and other stuff.

Beans...in general I highly dislike them...I just associate beans with not enough money to buy food that tastes good. :hu

AND GUESS WHAT WEATHER I AM HAVING? ??

:hit :he :barnie  :tongue

yep...more rain. ...MORE!

It is looking like we might reach 3 months of rain....almost solid rain. :he

Any time BBQ or grill and rib eye steak is involved, I'm all for it! :drool Medium rare yum! :love I really like baked beans with hot dogs cut up in them. I also like 9 bean soup and especially with a ham bone cooked along with. Kinda like Navy bean soup also. I also have had some sort of bean and barley type soup that was very creamy and delish. No idea what it was or how to make it. Not a big fan of just black beans or pinto beans, but do like the big red kidney beans in my chili. I know "real" chili doesn't have beans in it, but I like them.

Grats to all you new badge owners! If you were selected, there's no doubt you deserve the recognition. :D
Medium rare for me too! We had chili dogs one night last week.

Homony..... open can and rinse.... Salt and pepper and a spoon full of bacon grease.... throw in frying pan to heat. Oh and you can throw in some fresh tomato and onion slices if you have them.

Its just reconstituted corn... but some have difficulty with the texture... I love it.

we Serve it up as a side dish for ham or steak... Or if there is nothing else its a great filling meal.

Same goes for Grits which is made from homony...

Just came in from the jacuzzi. Not really cool enough outside to enjoy it fully, but those jets were really appreciated. Now it will take a bit for the body temp to come back down, then off to bed for me as well. Sorry... had hominy once and that was twice too much. Won't go any further but suffice it to say that anyone who wants my share is welcome to it. I'll pass on the grits too, although I can handle them somewhat better as I like cream of wheat, which is similar.

I grew up eating cream of wheat and loved it.
I will eat grits once in awhile.

DD #3 called about 30 min. Ago she was on her way to Walmart to get a wet vac she has 2" of water on the floor though out the house.
She's in Pensacola.
She was not able to get renters insurance when she moved in because hurricane season had already started.

Beer Elderberries are toxic until cooked. According to the research I did on them. But all the old timers used them for a tonic in the spring and fall to keep them from getting sick.
They have a lot of antioxidants and healthy benefits in them. You can make pies, syrup, jam and much more with the berries and flowers. The canes can are also used for musical instruments and blow dart's. Lol I guess they areas strong as bamboo. I am growing them to help boost my immune system. There is a farm in NC That grows acres of them trying to save all the species they are working with the Ag. Dept. They also sell their products in stores and online. It's called Norms Farms.
I bought some cuttings from him as well as a couple live plants online.
Here is a link to his FB page:

:eek:I've ate lots of them raw when i was a kid, never got sick.
Finding mixed info on it, some say poisonous some say so mild no effect IDK?
Saw red one's are the most toxic? These are tiny purple black.
Never was sick from them but I won't be trying them raw anymore anyway
