The Old Folks Home

Happy chicken momma this morning! To refresh you all; the new addition to our coop is divided so that it can be used as a brooder etc. where everybody can see everybody but not have physical contact. Anyway, I have been allowing my 16 week old girls to mingle with the big girls out in the main "play" yard and run for the past couple days. A lot of running but no blood so last night before putting them away I opened the sliding door that divided the two sides, took a deep breath, scooted everybody inside (thru their normal popholes), :fl and ran for the house. I went out this morning, praying for the best but prepared for the worst and there was NO BLOOD!!! The chicks were in a hurry to get outside but nobody was over stressed or beat up, whew! Once in the play yard everybody even mingled, well at least a little and only minor chasing. Guess my new setup is a success :celebrate
If anyone is interested, I can try to take pics of the new setup later.

I spent lots of time trying to send myself photos off my old phone. They didn't go through:hit i have lots of really nice pictures from our time in TN. Chickens, goats, dogs, family, my ceramics etc. So frustrating. Maybe if i take it in i can get them printed?

Try moving them to cloud storage--drop box, Google drive or whatever cloud storage you have

Yes, pictures please!:clap
Thank you Micro :hugs I went out and snapped a few so here's hoping they came out and make sense. Taking pics inside my little coop proved to be a bit of a challenge.
So here goes;
pic #1 - not great but what it shows from far left to right is the coop, the enclosed area between the coop and the greenhouse (I call the breezeway) and the greenhouse. The breezeway has a clear panel roof and sides with dutch doors on either side. The main pophole opens into this area with another pophole in the side of greenhouse allowing the birds to go directly to it without going outside in winter if they choose. This "breezeway acts as a passive solar heater for the coop. There is a double pane sliding glass window (pic 2 upper right) that can be used to control the amount of heat let into the coop. The dutch doors allow me to control the amount of cross ventilation, etc. With the doors open it gives me a nice foul weather feeding area and I never have to worry about snow blocking the pophole. (note;there is also an outer pophole in the greenhouse that opens into the run)
pic#2-shows the roost etc. of the right (original) side of the coop with the nestboxes underneath which allows me to gather eggs from the breezeway.
pic#3- shows the dividing wall between the two sides. I shot this thru the "people" door with the sliding door between the two sides is front left.
pic #4-shows the brooder side as shot thru the sliding door.This side has it's own pophole directly across from the bottom of the ramp. The roost lines up with the one on the right side but slightly lower to accomodate the younger birds. There is a "step" up to the higher roost on the right and I also made that section of divider wall removable so that the entire coop can be easily utilized by the birds when the divided brooder wasn't needed.
pics #5&6 are just a better view of the front and you can see the gate that allows access to the brooder side run and pophole.

The regular runs are behind the coop "complex". This is the larger fenced in play yard that contains my herb garden to the right. There is another 1/4 plus acre or so of area within the fence to the south and east of the herb garden. The small building in the foreground started out as my original sunshed but now serves as my workshop. With it's clear panel roof and large front window it is a wonderful toasty warm place to sit and do my woodcarving and other projects during the winter.
