The Old Folks Home

Clue you cat sounds pretty amazing
I enjoyed your cat stories.

Cap you coop looks very nice.

The carpenter bees here live under our lean to attached to the shed. Sometimes they bother us but our dogs will kill them if they get get to agressive.
I've seen more bees this year than any previous year.
Dh said when he moved in here there were honey bees living in the walls at the back door
He said they would not let them in the house. He finally got them out of the house and into an old tree. But the tree fell during Katrina. And he did not know where they went. We've only seen a few here or there. But we had a lot of Mason bees this year.
I'm not sure how large dh will make the box for them. We will be using scrap lumber we have under the lean to. I saw last night that people put chicken wire around the been houses to keep the birds from eating the.bees. I have some and will try it.

Thanks Micro for the Woodpecker story.

We get a couple nights of cold, then the temps go back up.

No I don't want to play with the bees. I just want them to have a warm home.

I wouldn't worry yourself too much about the honeybees right now. They will overwinter in their current home and they'll probably be fine, provided they saved enough food for winter (they should have). It is too late for them to be out looking for new homes - they do that in spring (swarm is when half the population of the hive and the old queen leave and start a new hive - the hive they left behind the queen laid a queen egg in to take over for her). The bees also gather sticky stuff from trees/plants and use it to make propolis. Propolis is used to glue the cracks shut in their hive, to make it warmer and less drafty. Trust me on this... my entire hive is glued shut by the bees.

I use Afrin every night so I can breath... Still end up with dry mouth :sick

I'll get off your case but you might want to google rhinitis medicamentosa. Afrin isn't supposed to be for long term use.

Thanks for the info on the bees. I still might let him make one and then put it up in the spring. It's good to know that I won't need to insulate it. Thanks

It hit 28 degrees here last night. Right now everything is covered in frost and the leaves are falling like snowflakes. Very pretty and hopefully it'll knock the ticks into hibernation.

The veggie soup sounds wonderful. I made a pan of homemade dinner rolls last night and hamburgers to go along with them so we ate them like slammers.

Dry mouth. Ugh. Got it hate it, I have severe allergies and take both Singulair and Benedryl at night. Even then I stay plugged about half the night and wake up with a horribly dried out mouth. If it gets bad enough I get up and use a mouth wash for dried mouth. A retired dentist friend told me about it. It also comes in sprays and it does work.I just buy the generic brand at Dollar General.

I can remember having dogs around most of my life but seldom cats. I love cats buy my parents never liked them so they were not allowed in the house. DH had 4 cats when we met and I fell in love with having them around. Now we have 5, the oldest 18 and the youngest two 5. Of course I'm allergic to them but not dogs and my favorite kitties love to sleep up by my head at night thus the reason behind the plugged nose and dry mouth.

Movies: Halloween week = good horror movies on TV. I LOVE it!

I Love everything about Halloween. Left all my decor behind during moves but we will not have trick or treaters any way here. I did buy some mums and 2 pumpkins though. Love seeing the classic horror films. Not so much into Jason or chain saw stuff.
I heard they made Jeepers Creepers 3 , looking forward to seeing that.
