The Old Folks Home

Stone soup is an old fable - but basically it's "whatever you have, find it and throw it in a pot and make do"

I've never actually made split pea soup before - but I have a giant hock bone from my pig last year and I've been dying to try it.

When my mom made it she grated a carrot in it and added a splash of Worcestershire sauce. It was good. Your hock will make it even better!

It is dreary and mid 50s here today. Rain and gusting wind to 50 mph. Not a nice day outside, but we have been lucky so far. Those plants i put in the other day will benefit from the rain. Nothing like it for growing plants.
Good day for a nap. I am thinking stir fried chicken for supper. Oh heck, i didn't buy mushrooms.
If i can stir up some energy i might work on the cat scratch tower. One more shelf to do, plus attaching them to the legs. It is either that or house work. Maybe both. Maybe i can get an energy transfusion from the cats and dog, they seem full of it.

I want to see the cat tower... BF had saved some thick cardboard round "pipes" from the dump and bought some sissal to go around them... but hasn't started on it, yet. Our 3 cats have 4 various "trees" across the house and of course they fight over one of them.

The soup is starting to smell amazing, and I just got my pumpkin pie slid into the oven (CSA gave us a pie pumpkin this week, and I couldn't resist... been thinking about pumpkin pie all last night and into this morning so had to do it). BF is out building the steps in the rain.

I hatched one...tell me if this looks like they are supposed to. I was told from the folks I got the eggs from, that the egg was a Cuckoo Bluebar, or Cuckoo barleg??
Oh man, On my desktop, don't have a photo on here..will post later from my phone. Don't want to download them right now. :p You have some cute babies there!

I'm going to have to go check my mail and see what she said about this one. She came from a pretty green egg. More on the olive side color. If I remember right.

Ron, I want to thank you. Your new badge means you do the BYC grunt work. Someone has to do it, and I'm grateful there are people like you that are willing.
There is a lot more to do with the move to the new servers. Some of the article pages have html code stuck in them and the images either did not move over or are not linking to external storage correctly.

We have made good progress on the 600. We are about half way finished. I am going to work on another 50 today

Split pea is very easy to make. It looks like something horrible but I like it a lot
