The Old Folks Home

Monday looks a bit ugly, 2.4" until 7AM, then another 3.2 by 1 PM. But we will have a white Christmas. Unfortunately we had freezing rain today on top of some snow on top of ice. Not quite sure what I want to do about the snow on Monday before we head to DW's parents. Don't want to blow down to ice but 6" is a bit much to leave on the parking area.

Maybe somebody will sprinkle Hershey's kisses on the floor in the house and I can stay inside for the rest of the day 'cleaning' them up?:plbb
Now THAT was truly funny! :lau:gig

Anyone interested in following my gingerbread chicken coop build can check it out on my thread Helpful Hints for Building coops. I have the frame made and the dough is chilling in the fridge.
Ummmm won't the chickens eat it? You'll be posting about the disappearing gingerbread chicken coop...

Decisions, decisions Bruce. If you blow it down, then you'll be parking on ice. Not sure which is better. :idunno Having a 4x4 truck, I didn't bother removing snow except on walkways and patios/decks... The snow actually improved traction on the ice.

SCG... perhaps it's (well past) time to install an emergency back up generator? Bad enough to lose power other than in winter, but in winter it's even worse.

I was putting purchased meat and frozen goods in my chest freezer out in my carport and the light went out. I kinda freaked cause the compressor stopped at the same time :barnie:barnie I thought to myself this is really going to suck if I need to buy a new freezer... this one is only like 2 years old and replaced one that lasted over ten years. I've gotta have ~$4-500 worth of meat and such in there right now. but I really don't want to have to spend $2-300 for a new freezer. It's still working.

I just checked our weather. 1-2 inches of snow tonight and another 1-3 tomorrow morning so maybe 2-5. They say the worst is to fall in the northern part of the state. Where we are so white Christmas Cheer!:celebrate YAY!

Of course we don't have to be on the road. The neighbors have invited us over again so if it's too bad we walk if it's too cold, we hunker lol.

Cap, saw your hoop frame for your gingerbread coop. You are too creative to be legal.

That would be a big crud huh we have a freezer if it was a car would could get antique plates for it

I just did get antique plates for my car! 1985 old school Mercedes Diesel! When the big EMP hits, everybody with a computerized car will be finding alternate transportation while my good old girl will just be chugging along fine and dandy sweet as candy.

Antique in car is good. Antique in freezer, bad.

hey no radiator or carburetor to go bad cannot get low on oil either

How the heck is an '85 an antique???? Someone needs to change the "rules".

So @Latestarter if the freezer is still working does that mean the light blew and the compressor coincidentally stopped at the same time? Replace that bulb with an LED, it will last a LONG time. They are all I buy now. They used to be stupid expensive when they first came out but no more. Plus Efficiency Vermont subsidizes them so they are even cheaper.

no problem here. Freezer goes out we just toss stuff in a cooler (to keep the critters out of it) and sit it on the back porch. If the fridge goes (power out etc.) we do the same cooler but then bury it in the snow so stuff doesn't freeze solid. Also comes in handy if you wind up with more leftovers than will fit in the fridge after a big dinner.
