Yep. There, my very intellectual input. And, do you see any baggies in those folks hands for the poop that's going to drop right there? No, because most folks don't bring it with them. Sorry, had to add that..I am one to bring baggies if I have a dog that I know will want to go before we get home. On the other hand, I don't wipe down fire hydrants..that's a given for dogs.

Pictures to come. I took an old metal rooster planter type pot and a brand new metal yard art sculpture over to mark my new property as mine. Mine, mine mine mine, MINE. It's rugged land. Like my own 8 acre nature preserve. (There's even a raptor's nest in one of the Ponderosa pines overlooking the spot where the coop(s) and covered run(s) are gonna go.) I have always coveted land with those big ol' rocks poking out and making abutments; I now own land covered in 'em. Not a whole lot of actual soil of any depth, but there are four or five cleared flat spots suitable for building without much grading. Tried four different locations near the entrance to plant the yard art, but didn't bring a mallet to pound it into the ground. HHandbasket and Farmer Lew had followed me, so I put FL to work stomping the post Into the spots we found, trying to seat it firmly. At the third and unsuccessful location, FL looked at me and said, "Congratulations! You just bought a really big boulder." He got it set securely enough for now; I will take a mallet with me tomorrow to pound it deeper. Tonight is Scrabble Night at their place, so I will bring a couple of Congratulations To Me bottles of wine when I head over after securing the flock in the coop here. If I don't make it home - for some reason - I will be 4/5ths of the way to the new property. (It's five miles from my home.) So's I might put some more stuff in the car tonight.... Just sayin'.

As soon as I can get John the Contractor over there to calculate building materials. I want two 10 X 12 coops separated by oh, maybe 8 to 10 feet which just might end up having a "back" wall and some sort of solid roof-ish covering..... Don't need building permits for sheds 10 by 12 or smaller.

But ONE coop has to be built ASAP. He has a couple other jobs going right now, so I'll see where / when he can fit my project(s) into his schedule.

Tomorrow morning I will be on the phone to FarmTek to talk to an actual electric fence specialist so I order the right solar charger for the poultry/goat electro-net fence system I want to get. That's gonna surround the run area but really far out, in a much larger ... Crap, I forgot the word... Oh, here it is: circumference. So the flock will have a safe chunk o' land for forage when I am present to,let them out of the planned, large, covered run.

I am SO excited, if I were younger and more supple, I'd be spinning in circles.

Got a call from my real estate broker: "Come get the keys - escrow closed and recorded today. It's yours, now."

The one room cabin has a KILLER deck. Perfect for partying. It's in view of a great fire ring made from concrete blocks. There is plenty of downed, dry wood for a bonfire (when it's legal). Many cars could park on that side of the property next to the cabin, where there is a second drive gate, and several more could park by the main entrance (next to the well pump) but the walk from one section to the other should be done by folks in boots. Gonna have to build some small bridges over the gullies between 'em. The years of leaves and pine needles has made it quite slippery to walk unassisted. .

Ummm. No bathroom facilities. Should I arrange for a rented porta-potty?

Tomorrow I WILL post photos I took today.
