Nicely done!!!! the many points coming together in the center is very hard to get right.

I use machine quilting-- I don't have time for hand quilting. TOOOO time consuming. ALso you can use another style: can't remember the name. Pole thru all layers, then back up again and tie offf leaving an inch tuft. ALso very easy. Handquilting is for the pros. lol

I had to do some extra TLC to the center because it started to get a hole in the middle. I've learned my lesson, I think.

I don't know what machine vs hand quilting is.

I do know that it is bedtime!
THe work to create the stars is " peicing".

When a quilt is made. 3 layers need to be held together. NOt just at the edges but thruout the body of the work. "Quilting" is sewing thru all the layers in a pattern: either geometric to create a design on plain cloth, or to out line parts of the design using concentric rings. IT is a lot of work and is usually vrey beaurtiful adding to the artesty of the quilt. Tufting is much faster to hold the 3 layers together. Much depends on what the quilt design is. BLock quilts often use tufting.

THe start is one of the most difficult peices to peice together. lol You do jump in with 2 feet!!

Whenever I have a hard time believing in miricles I just look at this face. She was born with craniosynostosis...her skull was fused so that there was no soft spot. No room for her brain to grow. They had to wait till she was 6 mos old to do surgery so that her skull would be thick enough to cut. Scariest thing I've ever had to go through.

The swelling scared the heck out of me.

She has a lot of attitude, lol. Hope yall enjoy these many faces of Maddy.

Wicked bed head going on here.

This year she is 4.

She's the light of my life, and my little gardener/chicken helper.
Oh my goodness, I have a cousin that had a baby like this. She had the surgery early on, had to wear a helmet for a while. They have a daughter that is 4 years old, has it, but it wasn't caught because it wasn't noticeable..not as bad as this last little one, so, they said they won't do anything unless she starts showing signs of it being a problem. She's doing well, smart little thing..and the baby that had the surgery is 2 now. She is doing well also. In fact, quite the handful...of course, she's 2! :)

Arielle, I need to learn to quilt. That's on my agenda, but I don't know how. I sat in B&N and read a few chapters of "quilting for dummies" and realized I wasn't even a dummy, yet.
I might try a bib and possibly some mittens.

I hope you have grandchildren soon. I need to have more kids to make fun stuff for.

I ended up making a star tag (and my first ever attempt at a star):

I use to quilt..but not like this! I did it the easy peezy way. Pretty piece of cloth for one side, another pretty piece of cloth for the other side, put some stuff in the middle, and sew up the two pieces.

I had a lot of children to make a quilt for..so, I made them fast. This was my fast way. They were pretty though. Used the yarn for the middle part. It was fun when I could do it. Leaning over a quilt frame wouldn't be a good thing now. I know they have the easier ones. hmmmm......That star is pretty! Well done!

Did they have the surgery done at Vanderbilt? That's where Maddy had her surgery. Great Drs. & great staff.

Yes!! "My" team - "Fastobatz," don't ask - won second prize in the Sunday Night Trivia Contest at The Pub tonight! Mwaaahahhhaaa! Our prize was a six pack of Guiness Dark Lager shared amongst four adults but I gave mine to the other team members. HHandbasket had to work so she wasn't present; next week we will kick butt. Plus, a random, re-visiting customer pair had purchased eggs from me a month ago and recognized me; they're coming by tomorrow to buy another dozen. Somebody had snarked at me about the chain across the new property's driveway, so I bought and wired two reflectors to it this afternoon. Stupid litigious society. Seems to me if anybody ran the chain with a vehicle it would be entirely his or her fault and damage would be an "Oh well, yer stupid," incident, not my problem.

Most of us wish society worked like this, but unfortunately, it doesn't. Some days I wonder if those of us who are "normal" are losing the good fight.

Hope you guys have a great Monday.
