The Old Folks Home

S

Shoulder is doing great. Hurts when used in certain ways, it's supposed to be a full year of recovery. It's my breathing that isn't under control. Going to see my MS specialist next Thursday! Guessing some type of breathing therapy to be done at home.

I pray they can get it under control and that your shoulder will continue to heal.

Went to The Doc today

This one was a Geneticist. My Oncologist Surgeon recommended it. They interviewed me (the intern and Doc), about my family history and asked about cancers they had or if they had had cancer. Also their general health.

Then the Doc got down to why she was interested in my case. Apparently when they Looked closely at my cancer tumor they found that there were certain proteins that were missing. Then she spoke about Lynch Syndrome and that they wanted to analyze my unaffected tissue or blood for missing proteins.

If I am positive meaning they are missing. Next they will analyze My DNA. They want to know which side of my DNA is responsible... Moms side or Dads side. If its Dads side there is a 50 percent chance I passed it on to my son Dean.

Ok here is the skinny Lynch Syndrome is tagged for Cancer risk in other areas of the body. First most is Colon, Second Endometrium, Third is Stomach, Fourth is Ovary... There are six more but I don't fall in the population risk for them....

No matter the results they are going to order a colonoscopy of my colon and a endoscopy of my stomach. Looking for various things like polyps and cancer..... I made the comment about the tests "Wow at the same time? Do the scopes ever meet in the middle...." here comes my fear joking.... "Hey I see a light" The intern giggled.

If I am positive my son will have to be tested to see if he is positive as well and the recommendation is to do the same Colonoscopy and Endoscopy. Only not as often as I will which still doesn't make him a happy camper...

So my Journey continues.... All in all I am very happy I am in the hands of a research hospital.

Nice.. we needed an air wing there, they shared Miramar before, right? US Navy and Marines?..

Good to hear from you perchie.. :)
When the Navy left the Marines moved in... I dont think they shared except maybe for training. Top Gun was primarily training for landing on Aircraft carriers I believe.... I used to know the Artist that made up each of the pilots logos...

We still have a Navy presence. Sub Base as well as base for Aircraft Carriers and the assorted support craft. They have an airport on Coronado.

I once dated a fellow that was stationed on the Pidgeon... A Dual hull Sub rescue craft. He said a Guy in a canoe once passed them in the bay.... VEry slow... There are two of them one stationed on the West Coast and One on the East coast.

The common ones (plecos) can get huge.. I had that net problem, especially with my bristled nose plecos, they only grow to 4-5 inches and only the males have the bristles.. I also made a makeshift plastic net out of a plastic container, just made holes in it so the water will sift thru, but I cut my share of nets off of them too, lmao..

Is it the 4 feet wide one? If it is, it's good on surface area, depends on what kind of fish you are planning on stocking it with.. I used to use the under gravels too, on my 55 gals, they work great.. I think you're right about using the 60 for the 110; you can still find the under gravel filters, let me know if you have problems getting them.. Presently I'm using two filters in each tank, some two canisters or a canister and a hang-on-tank.. I never test, lol, tho I'm the first one to advise people to do so.. However, for those of us who've done this for a while, we can more or less tell when something is off, right?

My tanks right now are a 90 gal, a 55 gal, and four 30/29 gals, and I have a 5.5 gals on my dresser with some guppies and rare orange laser cory's in it.. Still looking to shut down a few more.. I want to keep the 55 and 90 in the living room and foyer and a 30 gal. and 29 gal. in my bedroom, I'll be good with those four..

I do a weekly 50% water change, out of habit, really don't need it, but being retired and not having anything to do, lol.. Angelfish and guppies are my first love in the hobby.. I'll tell you about that a little later ;) .. I will always have guppies and angelfish.. I do my filters every two weeks on a Tuesday or Wednesday, not too close to the water change day, which is usually Saturdays.. Love them..

Lol, I have a friend and fellow member of TBAS (Tampa Bay Aquarium Society) who turned his swimming pool into a fish pond and is growing tilapia in it; I think he already ate some from there, lol.. Also, I believe the state gave him the fish, smh..

Pls let me know when you do, I want to send you some fish, it'll be my pleasure, and I'll send you quality fish, for sure.. I sell fish over the net and to friends around the continental USA and Puerto Rico, but I give away way more than I sell, lol

Thanks for chatting with me Deb.. Have a good night, we'll do it again tomorrow, k? Sweet dreams and don't let the bed bugs bite.. :);):love:love
You guys are making me want tanks again! I have no time as it is.

@getaclue, don't kick yourself I lost one of my 6 week old juveniles this morning. Stupid little bird jumped up and squeezed herself through a gap in order to 'visit' the two broody hens and their chicks. Only the hens went into attack mode. I found the little pullet semi consious with a severe head wound on the side of her head at and under the ear. When I picked her up I saw there was a spot of blood on the opposite ear. She woke up briefly when I talked to her and then faded back out. You could tell there was a porch light still dimmly burning but nobody was home. The brain injury must have been severe. She was bearly breathing so I did the humane thing. Going to miss her. She was a little spitfire. I only have myself to blame. I played devil's advocate as far as the chicks were concerned and secured so they couldn't escape, but never thought for a moment that the Juveniles would go exploring and find a gap at the top of the pen and squeeze through.

I spent the day building a seperate pen enclosure for the broodies that nobody can access except me.

They had tangled with the hens once before and were staying away from them even when they were in the coop as the two pens were side by side.

I told DH that just about the time I think I have this chicken keeping hobby down pat something happens to make me feel like a freakin idiot.

RIP, my adventurous little Beta.
