I must be in tune with Capricornfarm. I was awake 7 times last night.Just couldn't get to sleep and stay asleep. Allergies bad. Restless, achy then the cat kept drooling on my head. No joke. She sits by my head, kneads my shoulder until she gets so into it that she starts to drools. Sometimes she drools on my cheek. :sick

Got up at 7 and discovered that the reason I hadn't slept is that I forgot to take my PM allergy and pain pills. Haven't done that in ages but was really tired so was pretty much a grumpy zombie all day. Lucky for me today was HAM Radio Field Day and our club was having an all day outing/cook out at Thousand Hills State Park. I was going to bake a Sour Cream Chocolate Cake. Opted for Hyvee Cheese Cake ready made from the deli. Slugged down two big glasses of sweet tea and got a sugar buzz on so I finally woke up about 6 pm.

In time to head for bed.

Bet I sleep tonight.

Had some awesome dreams, I'll tell you about them sometime :p;).. Went to Burgers & Brew with a couple neighbors, they have a hell of a Reuben sandwich there:sick, and had a few beers.. Finished fixing my daughter's front door and mowed her lawn, smh.. Not going anywhere tomorrow, Sunday.. Gonna watch the race and then have my Corona-La cerveza mas fina, sitting out back watching my chicken.. ;)

How about you Misty, how's your weekend so far?? :frow:love
So far it's been ok rain off & on today it's supposed to be nice out maybe go for a drive it's so nice of you to do things for your daughter:frow

BTW Chris, I checked and Jason's Deli is in Lakeland, and other Fl. cities. 3 kinds of free soft serve, vanilla, chocolate and swirl. My brother bragged his friend at work could manage to hold 3 cones(they are small) at one time. He is also a BIG man.

Ha, I came back with 4 cones in one hand and my brother called me a pig. See how men can be? Other male diners gave me dirty looks. Sexism running rampant.

I am small 4'11" but fluffy I should have punched them all in the knee. Better small than not at all.
Well put Diva that's cute:D

I have my meds(and supplements) on kitchen table - since I am sitting there so often stuffing my face, you would think I would remember. I just noticed(because I was snacking) that I didn't take my bedtime pills. It's 3:10 am - when I started with them I used to take at 11:30 pm. Things change

BTW what does smh mean?
Shake my head.

Morning everyone!

I'm working on my second cup of coffee here. Had a good night, thank goodness. Foot pain kept me tossing until the pain meds kicked in then it was lights out! till 7:30 this morning. 8 hours of uninterupted sleep is a good thing!

Agenda for today is what else? Work on firewood. They are calling for rain over the next 3 days so we need to get what's on the ground in the barn so we can split it during the wet spell.

I have to admit that I really enjoyed the cook out/pot luck last night. So good not to have to cook and interesting eating other women's recipes. Lot's of good summer salads, deviled eggs, summer fruits and grilled meats. They had been able to rent a shelter at the park that had an air conditioned building with a fridge in it so we could store our food and it wouldn't spoil. Since Field Day is a 24 hour affair and contest, some were staying all night.

I enjoy HAM radio but not THAT much! Especially when I'm one of the walking dead due to no sleep.
Potlucks here are very interesting affairs.... Mexican, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Southern, Vietnamese... All foods that are designed to be shared and In the beginning my first one I had had never had anything other than Chinese food... Southern style cooking in my family... Lots of fried everythings...

so my first potluck I got to sample Lumpia for the first time. Filipeno rice noodles with bits of Barbequed Pork... Rootbeer cooked ham...

Beans serve a good purpose but due to reactions are best eaten when no one else is around.
Funny that... When i cook em No reaction... I sort Rinse and throw em into a pot with a ham hock or two Or maybe a smoked ham shank. Pepper and garlic and turn the pot on high till it starts simmering then turn it on low... I have to feed it water now and then but I cook about four hours.

Just before completely done I check for salt. Ham hocks or shanks are very salty. I adjust the salt and cook another half hour. Till the meat is falling off the bone.

Grandma LOVES beans but shes a soupy bean lover. When I dish hers out i dish out about fifty fifty juice and beans and a little meat. Next day I add more water when I head it up.
