Not only that Chris, ice can fracture teeth, especially if eating ice or having ice in a beverage, and then switching gears to have coffee or hot soup. There goes another tooth.

Very prettyI have a lot of plants like that. One is a prickly pear cactus that I brought home from a fishing trip with my folks when I was in my twenties. Starts move with me from the almost 40 year old original plant.
Got pics of my problem Iris bed.
You can see where I started to weed on the left and thought to myself that there had to be an easier way. I was trying to beautify the power pole when it went in.
View attachment 1450801 Different angle. Weeded Zinnias and soon to be blooming Bachelor Buttons next to my weed encrusted Iris...and my homely little garden gnome.

Not bad from a distance, just don't look too close at that Iris bed! Yeah, in difference to my trick back I sprayed the parameter with weed killer. The least amount of time I have to spend bent over or kneeling to weed, the better IMHO.
Not only that ice has been known for hepatitis & other diseases, better off to make your own
Thanks ron and misty. I'm probably just going to dig up the Iris this fall, split them up clean the grass out and start over with them.
I never buy my rhizomes deep. Here to protect them from hard winters, I just bury them half way and lightly cover them with dirt. Usually by spring the tops of the rhizomes are above ground and they have a great root system.
Bachelor buttons are one of those flowers I remember from being a little kid, under 7 years of age. I remember my mom planting bachelor buttons, 4 o'clocks and moon flowers. We kids used to catch bees in the moon flower blossoms, waiting for one to get down deep in the flower and then grabbing the blossom and pinching the wide bell shut. We thought it was a hoot to hear the bee angrily buzzing inside.
It's a wonder we weren't stung.
I had light blue Irises around the cottonwood tree where i had my first garden. Just love the yellow ones i have now! Thanks ron and misty. I'm probably just going to dig up the Iris this fall, split them up clean the grass out and start over with them.

I set up a box fan to blow air out of the coop today. Hopefully, cooler air will be sucked in.You too, Misty!
Hey, just what I need! Another project on the list!
Did get the 5-4 week old babies weaned today. The last hen in with them wasn't paying them much attention any more, eating treats instead of giving them to the little ones, kicking them out of the way on occasion so I knew it was time. In the mean time, my broody is on day 7 with her 5 eggs in my feed room and doing well. I set up a little fan for her today when the temp was at it's highest. That room faces the west and can get stuffy in bright sun.
My chicken's aren't spoiled a bit!
