The run isn't covered yet, nor is ALL the fencing "fitted" with its wire apron.

I am hoping to get that done during the few days of coop confinement..... It will also take a few days to get the flock members from the Homestead to the Ranch. This morning I boxed and transported 7 very startled cockerels. Haven't really determined the total Cockerel Count - while loading the Quest, I eyeballed at least five more - nor have I made the final decision(s) about which pullets will join them. Plus, HHandbasket has been keeping 6 more of my roosters which began to crow just as I started looking for property.

It looks great, Linda! It seems warm and cozy and very secure. One thought, though, a couple of cement blocks, or better yet, a small rack made from scrap lumber, would raise that awesome waterer up high enough to keep most of the flying bedding out of the bowls. If you (John) made it about 6-8 inch platform then you coyld find a couple of rocks to serve as boosters for the young ones. I want a waterer like that, let us know how you like it after using it a while!

My lovely SIL ordered this for us last night.

My nice UPS man should be bringing it next week. My whole family have been living vicariously through my chickens, with daily updates on facebook, and she said she wanted Dottie and Cricket to have their own house instead of the plastic tote they are in now. So I guess this will be turned in my new chick home. Now if only I can figure out how I'm going to add a heat source.

Linda that is nice. My 4 girls last winter had a similar but smaller version my hubby got me. They did fine without heat or light. I just placed out of the wind under a carport.

That coop should look nice in your yard!

I think so, too. On the garden side. I was thinking about puting it under the mulbery tree but th thought of cleaning it off when mulberries are ripe...uh uh.

I'll post pics of it in the garden onc it's here and put together. I have eggs in the incubator at the moment, so it will be well inhabited soon.

That's a nice style coop; I had one just like it and gave it away to friends who helped me move my flock when I left that property. (I had seven small coops, only relocated two as grow-out or isolation coops when I moved here. Two went to my friends and I left three behind.... The main coop here at the Homestead is large enough to house around 80 fowl.) I think you'll like it well enough for a few chickens. I was able to put it together all by myself, too.
