The Old Folks Home

Woke this morning to three chicks happily peeping in the incubator with one of our cats sitting on the kitchen countertop watching them through the milk crate I keep over the incubator, and the forth egg pipped. One chick is solid black!:love

I'm so glad that I went out last night at 10 and rescued them. While an excellent broody, Blackberry proved to be a dumb cluck when it came to babies.

Project this morning is to get the brooder set up so I can move them in as soon as the last one hatches and then get to work cleaning my bantam coop. I get the Egyptian Fayoumi hen tomorrow.:celebrate

Penny, I wish I could have a couple of dependably broody Silkie hens. Unfortunately, they are the number 1 with a bullet breed when it comes to susceptibility to Marek's disease.

I swear that I would much rather hatch eggs in my Brinsea than under a broody. I'm much more dependable!:D;)

loan you a silky have two laying eggs again they are done being mom's to the marans you could pop one under they would be ready to go again.. Someone stole a horizon air Q400 plane flying it saying they did not know how to land it 2 f-14 came out of Portland
started following it got out to one of the little island little plane went boom .. I think they shot it down so it could not get to our local air base
Wow, pretty dramatic stuff!
