Agreed. Not something one wants to cut corners with.

@superchemicalgirl. I have to ask you a pharmacist question. I'm starting SQ Methotrexate. Doc also has me starting sublingual B12 with B Complex. Read on one of the drug sites that this is to help lessen side effects of the drug. True? They say to use the sublingual at the same time you do the injection. Also true? I'm supposed to use it every day. I just read that the drug is a folic acid inhibitor which would explain why he wants me to use it everyday. I'm sitting here waiting for the B complex to arrive in the mail and am hoping I'm using good sense doing that as today was really a bad pain day for me.

It was my grandad... ages ago now, when I was a kid getting some kid shot.... . he was a doc, my grandmother, his wife was head surgical nurse. I think they had only been used on the family.... oh... and the cattle.

So... the needles were probably from 1920? 1940? They weren't rusty... they were well cared for.... just large bore and not sharp.

I STILL remember my last injection with a reusable needle... it sure was in need of a good sharpening

I should rembember... I rembember when they came out with the disposables.

Al, didnt you just say a few pages back that you had a normal, happy childhood?

Micro, last I checked the MTX only suggested oral folic acid (usually 1 mg orally daily or 5 mg once daily on the day after the MTX) to reduce side effects, not other b vitamins. However, if you supplement with folic acid and you're b12 deficient, the extra folate can cause a weird kind of anemia. So yes, makes some sense.

Back in the day docs had an autoclave for sterilization.... all instruments went in including needles... NO ONE uses them any more... I remember watching the stable manager use the same needle on eight horses rinsing it out with Alcohol... Giving immunizations.

The mare I had that was taken back by her original owner died of Hepatitis... I didnt put two and two together till twenty five years later.

I remember Polio vaccination and TB vaccination... ONe of them had to be stabbed into my arm about ten or twelve times... Dont remember which... I still have the scar from it.
