The Old Folks Home

Beautiful pics, Al! I found the cemetery at the old Orthodox church (I think it's near Ninilchick?) fascinating and beautiful. We saw some other cemeteries when we were up there last year, and they're nothing like the neatly mowed ones we have here. I love the wildflowers growing all over them.
Yep! We like wild and natural :lau

Sure is difficult though, to keep those wooden crosses upright!

Hope you not getting it too hard take care of yourself
Going to take some Nyquil and get to bed soon. Just as soon as I get the socks in the dryer.

Yep.

Those statues were shipped over from Italy.

I'll bet! Last time we were there, we saw two little bull moose - maybe yearlings? they weren't very big - along the side of the driveway. They were covered with mosquitoes, poor guys! I wonder if they maybe rub on those crosses to scratch their itches.

I watched First Blood with kid #2 last night! (The first Rambo)

:lau

Such a classic!

I really enjoy it.

I was telling my kid that after that movie SO MANY teenaged guys were buying that knife and wearing their hair like he did. :lau
When I was a kid, '80s remember going to a auction with my parents and my aunt and uncle in PA, must have been a Christmas present auction I think lots of toys and junk. Dad bought me two knock off Rambo knives one black one camo. Had bubble top compasses and fishing hooks, line, sinkers, wire saw, matches inside the handles. The nut that held the blade in always loosened up, they were cheap but I thought cool as crap I was Rambo Lol.
Harbor Freight has one similar but longer, been tempted to buy it even though it looks just as cheesy lol.

Beautiful cemetery statuary! Love the wistful angels.

DH and I are slated to be planted in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland. (Beautiful parklike cemetery with lots of history.) Nice view of the SF Bay area. Great grandfather bought the land when great grandmother passed and split it with another family (as money was dear during the Depression) and the rule of thumb is NO headstones on our half. There's a marker at the edge of the plot. However, one of the daughter-in-laws of great grandfather put a big copper placard for her and her husband. Tongues continue to wag over that one. Four relatives are buried full-coffin, but the rest are cremains. We even snuck Mom's beloved dog into the realm, probably not the first pet ashes to be shoveled in. :)
