The Old Folks Home

I go through similar manuvers getting dressed. But using one hand to hang onto dresser for balance. Balance has never been a trait of mine. Many many moons ago I was out at a restaurant and forgot, it was one step above the floor. Of course missed the step, dropped down fast, hands fluttering and managed to do a deep knee bend but recover . I was not too embarassed to utter "TAH DAH " I got good applause too. But, never tried that again.

I did the same thing coming out of a local Auto Zone with DH. They had a weird step off between the walk in front of the shop and the parking lot. It started out at about 4 inches and then sloped down to flat. It didn't have a yellow warning strip on it and I was just moseying along and stepped off the 'step' at about 3 inches. Did a nice belly flop after taking two staggering steps. Immediately bounced up brushed myself off and said 'For my next act, I will demonstrate an old lady walking to her car!'

A couple of people gave me a wide eyed look. DH just shook his head.

He knows me too well after all these years.

There are so many sticks over by the new chicken coop, i was cutting wood with the chain saw to clean up the area. I stepped on a thick branch and my feet went right out from under me and i fell on the wood pile. No one watching except maybe a few guineas and chickens. No harm done.

Are we getting into silly ways we hurt ourselves? Like sitting in a chair tossing a rock up and catching it...then missing the rock and having in hit you in the eye? Standing in line for your turn at 4-square and slipping on the ice, going head first into black top and breaking off your two front teeth? Releasing from the monkey bars too soon, falling back and breaking your arm?

:barnie embarrassing ways to hurt your self for sure!

Oh my! That could have been a huge disaster. I keep reminding myself to keep the "underfoot" area clean when I'm using the chainsaw.

It has been a few year's I don't have the recipe any more. But it involved using an electric skillet. I am more successful with sourdough and beer bread if not the normal yeast bread
Quick breads are raised with leavening like baking soda and or powder.

The biggest trick to yeas breads is correctly activating the yeast(use the type in the recipe) and adding the correct amount of flour. It is tough because flour has different moisture contend depending on your house. Look at it this way, the amount of flour in a recipe is a guide. Going by feel is better.

And of course do not under or over raise it!

I posted a good irish soda bread here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/the-old-folks-home.693812/page-9073#post-20537147

I really need to rake the whole area, but at this point i am overcome by the amount of work i need to do to get all these outdoor animals ready for winter. And trying to update the feeders to hold a couple days worth of feed before my surgery on the 17th.
