The Old Folks Home

Penny, oh NO! Sorry to hear that you are ill. The stomach virus you have is making itself know here in Missouri. Lots of it going around. Also Strep Throat and yes, the Flu is rearing it's ugly head all ready. I was in the local clinic yesterday dropping off eggs for the receptionist. Woke up yesterday to find a tick had embedded itself on my stomach. It looked nasty and when I went to pull it out, it broke into pieces leaving the proboscis and front legs still in my skin. I think the tick was dying or dead as we had treated the dogs about two weeks ago. I knew we had to get the proboscis out so DH went to work with a scalpel, foreign body tweezer and his portable slit lamp. after 30 minutes he got what we hope was the last of it dug out. I wasn't sure if I needed to be on an antibiotic or not with the methotrexate so I called the local clinic and the receptionist on duty who is a friend of mine went to work getting the question to the right people for me.

No antibiotic which is a relief, just observation. While there, she told me about how bad the viruses and sickness are all ready and handed me two masks with the orders to WEAR ONE OF THESE! when I am around crowds of people.

SGC, take care with that cold. No sense having it turn into bronchitis. Wouldn't you know it. Sick on the weekend when you don't have to work.

Morning Deb. Good luck at the swap meet.

No big plans. Weather is nice. It's sunny out this morning. Fall temps with highs in the 50s. Biggest plan is to get out and take a walk at some point in time. I need to start working at getting the bantam coop cleaned for winter. Keep procrastinating it.

Good morning :oldfolks.

One other thing would be to buy a franchise, like McDonalds to explain where the extra money comes from

And have to worry about finding employees willing to work ? I think not. I managed to retire early, and the best part of that was no longer having to find people who would actually WORK for a living.

:goodpost: Indeed! What he said! It will be enough work just trying to manage that 1.6 billion dollar win. Yup, the pot rolled over... no winning ticket sold. Just imagine how many charitable requests and real need situations you'll have to review daily. That's why you form a foundation, corporation, etc. and hire folks to find the best places to put your money FOR you. They can present them to you at a monthly meeting and you decide what goes where and in what amounts. That way YOU stay anonymous and the foundation/corp gets all the credit.

Trust me, having employees isn't all that and a bag of chips. We had one steal 50,000 dollars from us.

With employees you have to have eyes in the back of your head and watch over the operation. No body cares about the business making money except the owner.

I don't know that I'd give to foundations. More like, if someone's house burned down - I'd donate to help them get a new one (a cause very near and dear to my heart), or help someone with medical bills, or find a single mom a dependable car. Things like that. And I'd love to be able to do it anonymously. That's the best feeling.
exactly.... there is a car guy here in town who helps Navy moms with either fixing her car or outright replacing it with a better used car... stuff like that...

Time for who has fun weekend plans?

Woke up with a cold today and got some meds in me. Before I crashed and burned decided to take the dog for a short walk at one of her favorite places, Hobbit Land.

Luckily it wasn't crowded at sunrise, but we had been beat onto the trail by a golden retriever and her owner. I know this because Ripley stalked the scent at top speed, pulling me along the whole way, until we found said receiver.
Good Nose on that dog of yours scenting a Retriever and finding a Reciever.... Awesome.... Hee hee um heee

Good morning :old folks..... :D
woke up feeling........ drum roll....... FABULOUS.....:wee

I am waiting for the other shoe to drop but I will take it as it is.... Yay.

No plans.... except maybe some jewelry making and some cleaning and maybe assemble a book shelf that has been waiting about six months now....

The Dr. Is going to use disk replacement. But he still has to have the plates and screws to hold them together. So not sure how that will work. He has degenerative arthritis in his spine.
:fl

Hoping for a good outcome and speedy recovery
