What is your favorite ornament?

Mine is ones made from blown eggs the first year I had chickens.

Post yours!

I've noticed that some folks ignore this thread -thinking it will make them old.
It does! I was young until I started on this thread a year or so back!! :gig

Excitement for the day, cleaned what I could off the solar panels. Lots of crusty ice left, I can only reach the bottom row with the ice scraper. Made zero power today but should have less cloud cover tomorrow. Been a lousy fall this year for solar generation here.

Yes, that is true about the Fayoumis' being Marek's resistant, Which is why I'm trying to get a half dozen to interbreed with my Amish bantam cross girls and larger boys. She is a lot taller than I expected her to be but a really beautiful hen with a light bodied raptor look about her. I'll try to get a pic of her tonight.

The friend who gave her to us is going to order more for me this spring. I think he orders his birds for June delivery. I'm hoping for 3 more hens and 2 roosters. When he orders his birds he will add mine to the order and I told him I'd split shipping fees with him. He said he gets good service from his local PO.

Pick a favorite ornament. ALL my ornaments are favorites. Every ornament I have is special to me but the very favorite is probably my hunting Santa which is santa in camo hunting gear with a red hunting hat, vest and a shotgun slung over his shoulder and shell bag on his belt. The only thing missing is one of the reindeer as a hunting dog.

I hope the mareks woes get under control at your place!

Hi everyone. I hope ya'll are ready for the season.
We are coasting through. lol
Been busy here. Dh got a good news from his Dr. Wed. He's doing great xrays say all is looking great! Dh can now drive and lift 10-15 lbs.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Some of my kumquat seeds have sprouted. I have had a grow light on them for 2 1/2 hrs in the evenings. And they are now on a heat mat.

Favorite ornaments. I found two of the nesting hen oraments at the Salvation Army last year. Then my hunting Santa next to my miniature deer antlers.

Two of my boys with their new feathers all pretty before they tear one another to shreds come spring. On the right is Turtle, the first chick I ever hatched in my Brinsea two years ago. On the left is Whiskey who is just a little cuddler and one of the first cross chicks to be hatched from my Amish roosters crossed with my OEGB BBR hens. His brother Tango is standoffish and yes there is a little hen named Foxtrot.

So on the left is the Fayoumi hen, Farrah standing next to one of my little SWD hens. Then on the left is the youngsters from this spring and summer's hatchings enjoying the fresh air. Unlike the older birds who are in the coop staying warm!

Then here is Farrah. She was down off the roosts for a change showing off the dirty nesting boxes. She is very skittish. Doesn't like to be held but will tolerate it. I try to catch her on occasion just because I love to feel her super soft feathers. That's two of the younger cockerels following her around just thinking they will be the one to make her their own....so far her eggs are not fertile so only in their dreams. She seems to like my one eyed rooster, Barney a lot so I'm hoping to get them together this spring for a little chicken romance so I can try to hatch some of her eggs.

Thought y'all would enjoy some chicken porn this afternoon.
