The Old Folks Home

I would be more than happy to chuck it the time change was for farmers that had children that worked the fields with them how often does that happen now?

Saw a news article that the whole "it was for farmers" is a fallacy. It was actually the Germans who implemented it during wartime to save electricity -- it worked -- and the U.S. followed suit. Perhaps the farming story was to make the decision to switch over more palatable to anti-German folks or, at least, a rationalization.

Farmers don't farm using a clock. They use the sun. Dawn chores are still dawn chores no matter what time it is and farm laboring is sun up to sundown.

You sure they aren't planning to move someone more important into your office?

Sorry, had to.

On the other hand, my housekeeper/custodian at work is amazing. I can't speak highly enough of him. He goes above and beyond his official duties. Last week he noticed one of our carts had a bad wheel and we were going to have to move it to the back to take it out of rotation and put a work order in. Before we could do that he asked someone in maintenance to come up and replace the wheels for us (and they did!) and didn't even tell me about it until it was all done. My office floors get bleached daily, when I leave for a meeting so he doesn't interrupt. He won employee of the month a few months back and was so proud. He really deserved it. Wish he could get a raise or be promoted (but he also doesn't want to leave my department).
He was given to me as "he's a good worker but he's really grumpy" :lau Definitely had some interesting experiences at first, but grumpy is not how anyone now would describe him... he's downright happy and smiley.
It would be too much work to move offices!

We could use a custodian like that!

I just came in.

Finally decided that the garden fairies were not going to come out and dig up the weed infested iris around our power pole for me nor was my back going to magically going to get younger or less painful so shovel and box in hand I tackled the job and got about half of them dug out and transplanted. Good thing I decided to do it because they badly needed separated.

Is my back happy? Nope but hey, my back is NEVER happy and that is why God and the scientists create prescription pain killers.:gigThe way I look at it I'm keeping several hundred people in jobs so I am doing my part to promote the economy.

Now I need to stay motivated so I get the rest of them dug out.

Milk cows, older farms not big one's, the cows get milked twice a day like clockwork, they come into the barn at the same times everyday, creatures of habit. They don't know anything about daylight savings time. So they are a hr off twice a year lol.

My grandmother wasn't a farmer... she was from a long line of ranchers...

She stayed on "God's time" all year around. She just had to be sure she didn't miss appointments when other people's clocks were different from hers.
