The Old Folks Home

Here -- New Mexico -- in April we have hecka winds. Days that blow and gust the dust consistently all day long. Most folks don't plant their gardens until Mother's Day so that the tender seedlings don't get dessicated. Dusting is a pointless endeavor as the gritty intrusion is relentless. Indeed, there are little sandbars on the inside window sills... That's how insidious it is. So I kind of let it get a little lax with the housework so it's one big cleaning instead of continual.

A friend dropped by yesterday as she needed eggs for her Easter cooking. To my horror, the dog hair dust bunnies were rather visible in their dusty coats. (Okay, Monday or Tuesday is, traditionally, my housework day.) I spent far too much time apologizing for my messy house. Don't know why -- well, perhaps 'cuz she's ex-military and rather tidy -- as it's kind of a given when you live with a pack of dogs that things are not pristine.

It is what it is. I think as you get older wisdom prevails and it's easier to let some notions just go with an "Oh, well!"
It was windy here yesterday too!

I spent the afternoon putting up sheet rock around the new whole house fan register. My Youngest DD helped but it was tiring and messy! It is up now but needs to be patched in, mudded, textured and the painted.

I am not in a hurry but there was a lot of Sheetrock dust that needed to be vacuumed up!

Morning all had crazy white dog doing the hootchie cootchie around our feet put her in the living her and moose where playing 120 lbs of big dog butts in air have to smile

Went out and bought an Echo CS 590 with an 18" bar today, didn't have time to use it, I swapped DD1's snow tires for her summer tires. Going to cut up the rest of the trees I dropped in the fall tomorrow. When it dries up some I need to go out and drop some more trees. Of course I suppose it would be best to wait until they leafed out so I could target dead trees. If it doesn't work well I'm gonna take a ride On a Gravel Road in Northeastern Missouri :D

This thing should make short work of the logs I have, the largest is only about 12-14" diameter. I'm sure my little MS 180 will be happy to go back to its designed purpose, small things like limbing the trees I drop with the new saw. It was really out of its league working as a logging saw.

Not one of my better Mondays. Had appt with Rheumy. Not happy that my neck hasn't settled down. Well neither am I which is why I'm there. Long story short. Toradol shot. Steroid shot. Appt with pain specialist. Increased my allopurinol increased my methotrexate.

I think I need to team up with @perchie.girl and the two of us have a good old fashioned cry fest together. :hit

But sorry Alaskan. Mid 70s here today. Mowed the grass yesterday. Love the smell of fresh cut grass. Wore my first pair of clam diggers and short sleeve t shirt and put away the heavy winter coats.

Let summer begin!

And then things took a great turn. TRex has babies! I peeped under her skirt and saw two little chipmunks under her. Didn't see the third egg so suspect there is chick number 3 tucked somewhere. Cleared out the shells and beat a hasty retreat before I needed a tourniquet. Motherhood sure hasn't sweetened her disposition any.

Y'All come! We'll have us a wood splitting party! DH has a 20 inch blade on his 590. Having some issues getting through the big black oak we dropped late last summer. Tree is off camber and more than 24 inches in diameter. Lots of wood in that tree.
