The Old Folks Home

part of the dues.... Worst job I ever worked at about "harrassment" was working in a machine shop... At the time there were only two women working in there one was the girlfriend of a machinist and under his watchful eye.

As an entry level I was a machine operator.... lowest man besides the clean up guys...
I got jokes pulled on me Lewed pictures and off color jokes... I never gave them the satisfaction of "Acting Girly"..... and eventually they left me alone.

Thought one time I left my gloves sitting on the floor by my machine and went to lunch. When I came back I put my gloves on to start work I noticed there was a hush around the room.... something was poking my finger I pulled my hand out to remove the chip that I thought was there and found one of these chewing on my finger.

yes and those jaws were opposible and can fit the end of my finger between them.

Of course I jerked my hand out and shook it... but I had never seen one before so I hunkered down to give it a good look.

I scooped it in a can and asked if anyone wanted it.... Not a soul.... LOL.

Later on I found it was called a Camel Spider.... found all over the US and the Middle east.

The pendulum has now swung so far to the other side in some institutions that males can no longer have a meeting with a lone female co-worker or student for risk of a harassment charge, and some STEM university departments are only going to hire female faculty. This does not help, as hirees will be labeled as getting positions based solely on gender not merit.

The kids are home from church camp. Yesterday the little girls learned how to apply makeup, and not use too much. It's 5 year girls, so they were thrilled. Today they learned more grooming, brushing their hair, washing their hands and using a nail brush to clean under their nails, and how to apply perfume. They also learned to tie dye, and did T shirts. The little girls were given hair brushes, loofahs, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand lotion, nail brushes, and ChapSticks.

Yesterday the boys (8 year olds) learned to bait a hook, and fish. They also learned that in an emergency, lake water can be used for drinking, but it has to be boiled first. Today, they learned good sportsmanship. There were various competitive activities with winners, and losers both as teams, and individually. They also learned to tie dye, and brought home T shirts.
Sad that the girls were not also taught to fish and that in an emergency lake water can be used for drinking (not sure about teaching 5 year old girls (or boys) about makeup but the lesson on personal hygiene is good for both). Girls also need to eat and drink, and boys need to wash!!!! :idunno

So Deb, what happens in 2 months time when you weigh 90 pounds - How do you stop loosing more weight?
LOL... In the beginnning I had 228 pounds to loose to achieve the norm of 150....

Statistically the Gastric Sleeve helps remove 70 percent of the excess weight... IF I hadnt lost fifty in my pre surgery diet that would have put me at 200 pounds or there abouts. As it is I may reach 170 by the end of the year. who knows.

But by then Hopefully I will have retained the life skills that will allow me to carry on with Weight Watchers who will work with me to go through Maintenence... Doc says hes had patients go through surgery and step right into phyisical training for marathons....

Not into that... But I would be happy to move about my place raising poultry and the occasional goat and my horse.... for the next twenty years or so....

Thinking more like the next 40 years or so!
So proud and happy for you!! It will be like you are suddenly “set free”

Y'know the old saying, Ron, to make an omelette you have to break a few eggs. I knew there would be a lot of work going into making less work. Things are getting there though. No more blackberry plants to toil over. Fewer chickens to take care of. No more strawberries. I'm starting to harvest my onions that have died off early due to the heavy rains. This will be my last in ground garden. My container garden is doing fantastic.

Getting down to 2 over 3 coops will help a lot. Especially since I don't have enough chickens for 3 coops any longer and don't plan to go there again.

So the light is on at the end of the tunnel and burning bright!
It will be worth it when it is downsized for you. I am down to 6 hens and the quail. It is a lot less work

Will you need to have surgery to remove the extra skin?

Will you need to have surgery to remove the extra skin?
Yes... around my tummy is all that Medi Cal will pay for... but I will absorb some... And I als have a ventral hernia from the Cancer surgery... Goes from about my belly button up to almost my sternum. That has to be repaired as well. Part of the impetus to get this all done before Medi Cal ends and I have to go on Medicare.

Hope the powers that be dont cancel insurance as we know it and put us back on preexisting conditions.
