The Old Folks Home

I'm not sure about Medicare, but Medicaid pays for the surgery. A friend of mine got it. She had to buy the compression garments, but they covered everything else. She had to fight for it at first. It's automatically covered for those that get any of the surgical procedures for weight loss, however, she joined weight watchers, and lost over 200 lbs. It's so uncommon for anyone to lose that much without the benefit of a "procedure", it took a bit to get it approved, but they did approve it. She got her middle done first, then her arms, then her legs.
The surgery for excess skin should be covered. If you want to encourage weight loss, then the the skin surgery is very needed.

I will call in mom for back up.... we need to talk more any way about finding a place for grandma... Mom is executor I only have power of attorney... To manage her finances... But I still cant write a check... Mom can.

If we send grandma off to a care facility Dean and I will be on the street... They are very expensive. I can go home and live off Social Security... But packing my stuff will be a night mare... Still has to be done if we have to sell the house to give grandma a good lifestyle....

As much as a PITA she can be I hate to see her go into the care of strangers....

If she gets into a good one, it will be good for all of you. Is Dean working and or in school?

I understand your pain, Perchie. I worked in an extended rehab and custodial care center for 5 years. I had my dad in the same facility for a little over a year before he passed away and worked there so I could keep an eye on him and advocate for his good care.

I hope you don't have to go that route. If you do, PM me and I will be glad to answer any questions you may have and give you tips on what your family should look for.

My one thing I can tell yo from my own personal experience is that I loved every one of the 34 residents I was in charge of. They were an extended family for me and one night I heard my head Aid tell a new hire, Becky is tough but she is fair and will go to bat for you IF you do your job and take care of her people for her. But be warned. Don't mess with her old people!

Good caregivers are out there but my best advice is for you or your mom to contact your local department of aging and see what assistance programs they have so you can keep your grammy in her home as long as possible. In Central IL they used to have a program that paid caregivers to come into the house up to 5 days a week to help with ADLs, cleaning, appointments, whatever was needed.

There is help out there that would keep you both from losing your homes.

I want to go that rout with an inhome caregiver... Tried it a few years back... But she was more in charge of herself then.... and Hated it.

I will check it all out... shes not too bad right now.... and she is not an "escape" risk either.... LOL.

I hope he finds a job that he likes. He has mild autism? It can be harder for people with that according to some news articles I have read

So two bites of egg and I am full... Never thought that would happen....
You'll have to raise bantams so you can eat and entire egg for breakfast!

and some STEM university departments are only going to hire female faculty.
That assumes that sexual assault is a one way street.

Pretty standard practice. Takes two people in cahoots to steal from the elderly.
