We've have a running gag for many years for this type of weather - "hey, Noah! (insert soggy bedraggled animal's name here) wants to know if you have that ark finished yet!"On the weather front, the chickens have ask me to build them a boat. Yes, we are again raining. Seems we get a day or so of sun then days of rain. The chickens want a boat to get to dry or really wet land. The swamps which we don't have but do now are all around the coops. I have boards set up for them to get to higher ground but they are even going under water....
The dogs, cats, horse and I look like soaked rats, or worse. I have to strip before I can enter the house due to mud, water and whatever else has attached itself to me.
That neighbor lady across the way is getting an eye full for sure....
So everyone enjoy their day, no matter what type it is.....
I was checking some eggs the other day and started checking some others and was thinking it was sad to have so many clears...then I realized I was checking the ones that were only 3 days in the incubator!Well than the kid in me is coming out cause everytime I check my temps I can here the flash light saying.....Just one peek wont hurt.
Maybe me and Scg can come up with a new method of incubating, write a paper, post it everywhere. "The Constant Supervision Method"
I think it'll catch on.Really it might.lol![]()
How do you deal with the waiting? I set 6 assorted mix NN eggs on Sunday and all I want to do is candle them (I haven't touched them), they wont show anything till Saturday anyway. But the waiting is killing me. Instant gratification is the American way and patience has never been my strong suit.
BTW insanity, I know how you feel. I set 22 barnyard mixes on Saturday. Every day I have to tell myself, don't candle yet, you won't see anything.![]()
insanity I didn't take your question as "stirring the pot" Whenever SCG sets eggs she goes candling crazy. Some of us are just more mature and can resist temptation until there is at least a chance of seeing something.(that is to SCG) Honestly, I am jealous of you all that are starting to see the warmer temps. I am so ready for spring I can almost taste it. Tired of fighting with heavy layers of winter clothes, tired of frozen water for the animals, tired of scraping poopsicles off the ground, tired of just about twisting ankles in the ruts and divots in the frozen mud, just plain tired of the cold. We are supposed to see temps into the 40's this weekend and I am so looking forwards to that!![]()
I can get my strait jacket out and model it, if need be.![]()
I was positive somebody was gonna remark about one of my two night-time house pullets being old enough to lay eggs and they're still not relegated to the coop would certainly inspire comments.

I was joking with those of us that participated in the Turkey Hatch last year, sorry for the confusion!
We adopted "Straight Jackets Required" as a motto and even took (imaginary) orders for them in eaches favorite colors - mine was houndstooth. At first, it was because we "had to be crazy for hatching so soon" after the Easter Hatch (the next week!) THEN we picked at SCG about wearing that straight jacket to keep her from candling her eggs too much. It was a rolling joke through out the hatch and it was great fun! I miss it, but we will have another one this year (I hope.) Then you all can join the craziness and get one of your own!
It had nothing to do with posts about the weather.........
