The Old Folks Home

Oz, that is pretty darned clever and shows what I have been trying to imagine from descriptions.

I don't THINK I have a rodent problem in the coop; I have seen two separate occasions during the past year when my Buckeye girls dismembered a mouse between them, then they swallowed their prizes with gusto.

There have been a couple mice in the house. I have electronic mice traps using battery power to electrocute the little buggers. The flock got that protein, too - I simply emptied the carcasses from the trap in the same place I provide treats.

I have seen a few mice in the run, but the chickens eat them. Same with snakes.

The rat is in the duck house, and it burrows. It burrowed out all the dirt from under the rubbermaid duck "pond" and excavates under the goat house, dog house (for the ducks) and into the duck house. Now because it's on "lower ground" rain flows into the duck house. They don't seem to mind, but I do. Icky, nasty mess.

I guess the glue trap wasn't the best idea. For some reason the glue trap lost its stick last night and the rat was able to just walk on it. It was tacky sticky, but not crazy sticky like it should be. A few minutes after bringing it back into the garage I accidentally stuck my finger into a corner and couldn't get it out. And that's the story of my life.

I think I'll try to build a better trap when I get back from Utah. I didn't see any directions with it, how does one build the moving flume?

Quote: I laughed too!!

I have a coconut farm in the Philippines - rats live in the trees. I was put onto the slippery coke can version of this for mice - but a big trash can version of this one is lethat for rats. I got 30 in a night
30!!!

My best effort was 5 or 6 rats in a barn in one session. Rats had tunneled under hot topped aisles in a horse barn. The jack Russel terrier did the dirty work, I just stuck the water hose in the tunnel. Great dog as a ratter!! We cleared that barn in just a few weeks, in my extra time..

I have a Rat Zapper and it catches mice if I bat it with dry cat food. It makes a difference where you place it. I re baited, moved the zapper and caught one last night.

The cat food has salmon Meal and fish meal in it.

Went out and got shots of the moon setting over the mountains to the west of us

Beautiful!!!!

I need new telescopes. I used to sit ourside when my kids were small and everyone had a telescope. Got bigger as the kids got bigger and then when I married my husband he showed up one day with one. He had never had one and didn't know I had some packed away. He got hooked, so on clear nights or when something interesting was up there, we'd line them all up. Even the neighbors showed up. I could stare at the moon forever.

Linda I saw this and thought about you. LOL
