The Old Folks Home

I don't need a lot of goats nor do I have the room for goat math.
Surely goat math is not nearly as insidious as chicken math??

Luckily goatmath has a rate limiting step of gestation.

Was missing a turkey today. Located her in the woods to the side of the coop just before dark. Figured she was laying an egg. Nope, she was laying on FIFTEEN eggs. Sneaky little one, she is. No tom here, but I broke all the eggs open to be sure she wasn't visiting a traveling wild turkey.

Traveling wild turkey - like a door to door salesman... :D

My little CDM Narragganset poult got out of the brooder today. I don't know what s/he thought "out of this prison" meant, but s/hewas clearly distressed rather than curious. Nothing like following a turkey poult through the house to catch it, repeating "It's okay, sweetie. Don't be afraid!"

Hoot hoot hooty hoot hoot! And then the piercing scream when captured.

But all is well again just a few seconds later. Whew!

SCG-- oh I completely agree with your plan; just saying if $400-500 is top of the line, keep looking and you should find other breeders; may take more time and may be further away. I bought 2 sheep in VT some 20 yrs ago. 6 hrs one way and 800$ later . . . . bought a nice ram in Wiscasset . . . . . bought a great dog in PA. . . . . patience and you will find a good one!! Are you looking just at show herds or are you looking at commercial production herds??

I went to a chicken swap today-- sold mostly hatching eggs, and a couple young pullets. Traded a few pullets for a young rabbit. Turkey poult was sleeping on him on the way home.Scrambled to shift birds to new coops and put rabbit in the chicken brooder. He fits right in!!

Is this the kind of goat you are looking for? They go anywhere from 50 dollars, to 250 that I see...here in Utah.. :)

$25000
Reg Nubian Spotted Doeling

Elsie is 2 years old and this is her first freshening she kidded in March. She is kind, friendly and is easy to milk! She gives just under a gallon, that will change by her second freshening, she is nice and tall. And spotted!!
Very nicely bred. And she and all my herd are CAE free.

Oh man, this one is adorable! Mini though. :)

Arielle...we had goats and sheep when I was a kid and they got along fine. There is always room for 1 more right,

SCG....Have you checked your local rescue? You probably won't get show animals but you never know. Here we had 25+ registered longhorns available last spring and often real nice purebred horses need homes.Plus I think rescue animals know you helped them.Good karma.

I have made huge progress on my coop and run. Down to painting for the most part if it stops raining.Hopefully I can move them in soon.Trying to finish is on today's schedule. I also sold my extra rooster to a good home so no freezer camp for him

....They did name him Friar/Fryer in-case he turns mean...

I hope you all have a great day and get everything you want to done accomplished.
