The Old Folks Home

The coon got three more chickens this afternoon in broad daylight. DH saw it and we found three bodies within two feet of each other in an open part of the yard. We got the metal roofing secured, and set two traps using the bodies of the five dead birds. Daisy Duck quacked at me some this evening, I think that is a good sign.
I am so sorry he came back to get some more of your babies!

DH just told me he saw coon prints in the mud in the far out section of woods. We have not had raccoons here for years. Like 20 years. I have a bad feeding . . . . . Hopefully he is just out of place because of the high waters and too many areas are flooded. We are experienceing the spring run off now that never happened in April. Strange weather. THe 5th wettest June-- BEFORE the last 3 inches of rain.

This is what keeps me up at night! So sorry about your loss.

its ok - i may just sneak the hives in without telling him

It's kinda hard to be sneaky in a bee suit. Just sayin'

I know right? Starting early means leaving the B&B by 7am.

I would have loved the hike you and your friend did yesterday. Been too many years since I went hiking in the woods of Maine. Playing in the woods and living near the coast were probably my favorite things about living in Maine besides the small town friendliness. Of course I was from there so that probably helped. I know my dad was thought of "from away" for about 5 years even though he was born in Maine, just didn't grow up in the that town.

Wisher I am so sorry to hear about the losses and the attacks. I am praying you have a pelt for a coon skin hat today.

Wisher... I'm willing to incorporate your coon pelt into your SJ if you'd like. A fur collar? Maybe a muff for your sleeves to go through?

Oh Goodness, thank you for the reminder.

Just spent hour and a half loading a horse to go to his new home. and in the end all he needed was his buddy to go on first. Buddy is taking the ride with him to the new home She is such a good girl. SHe will walk him thru the barn to his new stall and then load and ride back home.

Now on to fathers day!!
