The Old Folks Home

Her 2 favorite celebs are Alton Brown, she loves "Good Eats," and Patrick Griffin because of the commercial where he's on the yellow toy horse. And she likes bluegrass...especially the banjo. We have friends who play. Don't look at me...I'm an old Megadeth fan.

Allrighty...I'm gonna go turn the eggs in the incubator one last time and then it's off to bed for me. Hope everyone is tucked in and comfy for the night...sleep well "old folks."

You might want to remember that hole, it sounds like you found a spring, free flowing water can be a good thing if you control it!

Scott

It is a huge underground spring or river because most of the farms in our area are using it for their wells including us.

I'm fond of using a small smoker to slow cook the old birds, just drip on what ever flavor you like while it's cooking and it's Dinner Time!

scott I recently picked up a free smoker-- it's huge! Bought a 20# beef brisket, then realized I didn't know what I was doing!! ANd worried about loosing all the juices. DO I put a pan under or seal the outside thru hot searing???? Did a rub and put it in the oven overnight instead.

Whenever I have a hard time believing in miricles I just look at this face. She was born with craniosynostosis...her skull was fused so that there was no soft spot. No room for her brain to grow. They had to wait till she was 6 mos old to do surgery so that her skull would be thick enough to cut. Scariest thing I've ever had to go through.

The swelling scared the heck out of me.

She has a lot of attitude, lol. Hope yall enjoy these many faces of Maddy

This year she is 4.

She's the light of my life, and my little gardener/chicken helper.
What a charmer!!
My oldest is getrting new glasses this week. With round frames he looks like Harry Potter! Thanks to HP glasses are no longer a point of teasing in schools anymore. Glasses are no biggy here, hopefully for your community too.

I have a two year old that started talking in full sentences when he was just 16 months. Recently he has got stuck on the letter K. Its the first letter in the work because in their native language. When he is excited his language goes into shutdown. Add that to being surrounded by English, Tagalog and their Ilonggo and it takes a very patient multilinguist with great lateral thinking skills to understand him. Fortunately my wife and his nanny fit that description.
Children of multi languages take longer to master them all. With a little more time, instead of just 1 language the child will have 2-3!!

an official word in the oz family vocab - as with huggle - a blending of hug and cuddle
Another new word for the dictionary someday.

Good Morning, It's going to be another lovely day. Update on the goat- chicken trade ,we loaded the chickens and goat we were dropping off at the salebarn on the way. sounds alot easier than it was to load the goat. My enabler had lost her patience by the time the goat loading happened. I'm no help. I'm good at giving advice. That gets me in trouble. We made the trade get home back up to the gate let our new treasures out and the guard Donkey chased the buck he was so scared he slid under the fence and kept going. My friend took the donkey to her house for a while she and her husband found lil buck roped him and brought him home.I'm sure he thinks his life has taken a turn for the worse the way his day went. He and his two girls are in the lot getting acquainted with Charolott and hopfully figuring out they don't have it so bad after all. My friend gets home looking forward to taking a shower her neighbor knocks on the door to tell her a hawk is having one of her chickens for supper soooo she had to go back out and take care of that....lets just say he won't be dining at her house anymore. Thank goodness for my friend, I hope we are still friends, Ha.

on Megadeth.

Whoever was complaining about the rain, I think we took it for you. Hope you're dry.

I've got our Sunday morning apple pancakes in the oven, and hopefully some new projects after my chores to work this rainy Sunday away.

Okay why didn't you guys tell me how funny ducklings are. I picked up 3 muskovy chicks the awhile back, and yesterday (30 day quarantine over) they went out to live in the coop.Their hilarious, the brown girl has been named Darnyou because she can get out of anything and into everything. My pullet EE Hawk has decided shes a duck and follows them everywhere.
On a less fun note several of my unwanteds have bumble foot. I started treatment on the healthier 2 yesterday. Should I put the 2 skinny ones through it now or wait till they gain some weight? The procedure seems pretty traumatic for an already stressed body?

Thanks
