Unless someone can provide more information than I could find, I don't think that frizzles have developed over eons of time. The frizzle gene would be a recessive as they do not repel water, nor do they seal heat in for the bird to warm up with. Only humans would develop a freak recessive trait... like roller pigeons that roll across the floor over and over, smacking their heads on the floor as they go... or fainting goats... or any of those other foolish things that people do. Frizzles, are dang cute, I can agree with that but if I had them, I'd be pretty concerned about their ability to stay warm in the winter. Roller pigeons, I won't have. Fainting goats either. Can you imagine fainting goats in the wild? If a predator just looked at them they would faint and become an easy meal.

Apparently I was mistaken about roller pigeons. It must have been tumbler pigeons. I always think of tumblers as those that tumble from and in the sky while a roller rolls across the floor. Ok, so tumbler pigeons, just have to think about gymnastics with that one. I have seen it in real life, I know they do it and it is a very sad situation in my opinion. YMMV.

ETA: Look up Parlor Roller Pigeons on youtube. You'll be amazed... I was right about them being rollers afterall... so I guess I haven't completely lost my mind anyway.

I just drug myself off of ebay egg auctions.

No, what stopped me from odering more eggs in that the spouse REALLY doesn't want any more coops.... And I just can't figure out how to add a coop that I can easily get water to, but that the spouse can't easily see.

Tricky, tricky.

However, I just realized that I could stick a small coop into the vegetable garden. I just REALLY prefer about 8square feet per chicken for interior space, and things are getting tight in my coop.

HOW do people put chickens in a coop with only 2 to 3 square feet per bird and not end up with feather picking?

See the lengths I have to go to, simply because I am not officially allowed to do stuff? Sheesh.
