and to the thread! Since I am the man of the house, and it's just me, the dog and the chickens, I can't really complain if the dog and chickens eat better than me

I don't remember any direct breaks in "The Princess Bride," it's mostly the tone of the movie. It's like the movie knows that deep down, it's a sappy, sentimental fairy tale, and is a bit embarrassed about it. "Yup, this is silly, but here I go, anyway."

Love the backstory about the filming of it. Andrea the Giant (wrestler) played Fezzig. Mandy Potempkin played Inigo Montoya his friend. While filming Andre was having a hard time saying his lines fast enough. It was ruining the takes. Mandy (in character) slapped him and shouted "Faster Fezzig! Faster!"

The set went into frozen mode because everyone knew that Andre had probably not been slapped outside of a ring since he was 13. Andre blinked and picked up the pace, Major stones on Potempkin.

I have only watched two Steve Martin movies - "Roxanne" and "All of Me." I enjoyed his performance in both of them. I've seen trailers and reviews of some of the others, and my feeling just from the snips was, "can we stop, now?" Not funny, just painful - but maybe if I saw those bits in context, it would work better.

I think what's most fun about "The Princess Bride" for me, is that the movie spends the entire time pressed up against the fourth wall. The "story within a story" format felt a little weird the first time I saw it, but I got over it by the third or fourth time.

You should really see "Bringing Down the House" with Steve and Queen Latiffa. It is old school Martin with new filming and directing. I thought I would melt in the floor when he went through an Eminem imitation as part of the movie. It was awesome.
