Wisher and latestarter: i know u guys are building coops now. There is a byc contest going on now for coop building. First prize is $20 byc shopping spree. 2nd prize is a golden egg or feather or something.

We got pre-approval for a home loan. Yay! I printed out the 4 best places for the price that seemed the best suited for our wants/needs, and DH agrees. We will be getting a home on 5 - 10 acres. I've also started combing through land parcels. It might just be worth it for us to get the property, and put a home on it. DH was commenting how nice it will be to have our chickens on our own property. Oh yeah, he's already making plans to put a surveillance camera or two on/in the coop, so we will have genuine chicken tv. I am praying for guidance to the right place for us.

Woo Hoo. Are you going to build or go modular. I love modular homes.... sooo many choices down to floor coverings and drapes....

Those modular people also do garages Here its required to do a garage on your own property.... and I betcha you could talk them into a coop...

if u want to move to alabama there is a nice 2400sq ft home on 10 acres close to my house. It has a big metal shop, man cave with a bar and pool table, and a fully stocked spring fed fish pond.

Not to mention your neighbor will likely do some "free surprise landscaping" and "shrub" planting for you.

Whoa, I'm still exhausted. We had a crayfish party at our cottage last night. We stayed up until 4 in the morning, and I woke up at 6:30 having to pee like a racehorse.

I would reconsider hiring bama as a gardener. He might hide his Silkies in your yard too...

wow lots to talk about .... The following is my opinion. Not based on anything but observing the people around me. I refuse to get stirred up by the press or blogs till I know more.

Marajuana laws: I am for legalization... But make sure the laws surrounding them are enforced. Age limit proximity zones.... blah blah blah. Pretty much the same as for Alcahol Consumption.

Babies having Babies: I worked at a gas station for about two years trying to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up. I knew the mother of one of the girls that came in regularly. Ten years old and out at 9:00 at night bumming cigaretts Some of the teen boys would orbit her like ever hopeful vultures. Her momma was a tweaker wehn i knew her and from what I could find out this little girl had at least four brothers and sisters. When she hit twelve she was driving without a licence and some of the orbiters fell away because one boy caught her attention. She started high school and by the time the first semester was done... she was pregnant.

It was as if she hat hit the lottery. Now she could have an income buy a car get stuff... Her older sister had hers with in months after.

I wanted to scream and shake her and her sister but they were sooo obnoxious or noxious I cant split the two in this case I just didnt want to be around them. Poor White Trash drug addicted before they were born role models were Hells Angels and Drug dealers and people who thrive about being around them. Didnt have a chance from the get go nothing is going to break that cycle without tough love.

Welfare: applies to the above. The original intent for welfare was to help people in crisis... Get over tragety like loosing home or the loss of a husband or mother or primary support system. It was intended to be temporary relying on the moral sense of the family to pull up themselves to get on their feet again. Often times kids had to quit school to go to work in order for the family to survive... We used to have trade schools that were a good fit in this case.

It was NEVER intended to be an entitlement.... When that happend I havent a clue. Generations on this crap is partly what has split apart the american family. The Tool is there to Help in crisis... Help while mom or dad learns a job... Help get infant fomula and decent doctor care... But only a hand up.

The requirement Should be either Work or School .... Period. In the case of someone being too ill to work That is where disability should come in.

Now @ChickenCanoe mendtioned something about the horse.... LOL. Believe me she can take care of herself.... Shes death on dogs. I personally have seen her knock a hole in half inch ply wood the size of her size five foot. and have that hoof sized divot land twenty feet beyond the fence. And she was just blowing off steam bucking and farting in the arena. But I have seen her take a well aimed swipe with a front foot that would have pancaked the dog if she hadnt had the brains to exit stage left... LOL.

Canoe I admit my losses were my fault I would never assume otherwise. I tell everyone it was a cascade failure and I assume they knew it was my fault.
