The Old Folks Home

I developed a chart (based on an amalgum of others on the web) of birds that I have (or should have) and their qualities

Very nice chart and site.

My auto plucker's name is Bernie.

I point to the roos and the next moring they are on the sink ready for a final rinse.

The only time I get help is when I hold a class on processing,

Hmmm. Maybe it's time to schedule another class.

Speaking of interesting...

I just learnt that the language spoken in Greenland is Inuktitut

I thought I would share in case you ever needed to know
All I need to know now is how to pronounce it.

It's got a fatal flaw if you free ranger birds... If one gets picked off during the day then the ballast is off for the door, the door won't close and the predator will just walk right in the coop.... Loose one loose them all
I'm guessing it's similar to "Inuit"... Which means "the people" and has nothing to do with eating raw meat... I think... Eskimo means raw meat eater.... I think.... Don't quote me on that....
Who knew, I'm an Eskimo.

I can't handle 'high meat' though.

Turn on the TV, gain weight.
Turn off the TV, lose weight.

Is there a correlation between sitting in front of a TV and weight gain? Hmmmmm......
You guessed the connection. Remote controls have made it worse.
Remember when we had to get up and walk across the room to watch a different channel?

I like good food too much, so I try to keep active. I have learned to make a bit smaller servings though.

You're on the right track.
I took a couple friends from Zimbabwe to lunch at the Welsh Pub my wife managed. They kept commenting on how huge Americans' meals are. When their lunch came out they just laughed at how big it was. Needless to say they couldn't come close to finishing it.

I'm absolutely freaking out with this freezing weather that's going to be here all week. Not good.

I really wish we had processed all the chickens and ducks I had wanted to. Now I'm taking care of far too many critters in the ice, changing water. And food. Agh. I need deicers. This is nonsense that I don't have this kind of time for.

CC, yeah, people who've been to the States always comment on that. I once spoke to a large man who had been on a business trip, and he said that at lunch, even the women were finishing servings that he could only eat half of.

It will be interesting to watch the chickens when they come out tomorrow. It was 73 yesterday. Today's high of 53 happened at midnight. It's 39 right now and dropping. Low 20s coming. Probably 2 weeks before we see a high in the 40s.

I had great plans for a circulated warm water system that, wait for it, I didn't get finished.
I'm hoping to keep working on it and get it done when the weather breaks before the real deep freeze gets here. This would have been a good test for it.
For now I have to drain the barrels and lines.

Unless we're really hungry, we usually split an appetizer and a single entrée.
If we each order a meal, we bring the left overs home and can usually get 2 more meals out of them.

It's not even worth taking me out to dinner anymore. I can't eat a 1/4 to 1/2 of what I used to. I used to be able to polish off a huge piece of prime rib with no issue, not anymore. I just don't want it. I only need enough to keep me healthy and no more. We waste so much food in America. I am ashamed of my contribution. I try really hard now to only make what I will use.
I so need more exercise too.

Shovel snow - nah!! Most people nowadays use a snow blower or have a pusher thing(insert senior moment here) on their trucks. I do it the old fashioned way, with a plain shovel.

As far as meals - eating out I usually get the 'kids meal,' which brings out a lot of raised eye brows from the wait staff. That way I have plenty of room for ice cream later.
