The Old Folks Home

Happy Monday, y'all.

I'm looking forward to a nice, quiet week. Lots of people off at work and BF is working the late shift. Plus I got water in my ears on Saturday and the right one's still clogged.

For those of you that celebrate Christmas, are you ready?

I made the neighbor 2 bibs for her twin boys and 2 loaves of bread yesterday. After shlepping over there, turns out she's not home this week. I also made myself the regular 2 loaves of bread that I make each week... pretty sure I can't consume 4 loaves this week. Any ideas on what to do with them short of giving them away? One's italian with garlic and herbs, the other is sweet white bread.

Ready? Uh no..... The main presents for the boys did NOT show up..... And we didn't find the angel for the top of the tree.... And we have 5 ducks to butcher for christmas...luckily only two need to be plucked, the rest are to be pastrami.

For the regular bread... Let it get a bit stale and turn it into bread pudding :drool or, slice it, let it get a little stale and turn it into bread dressing or french toast

Or, give it to your local food pantry

Ooo I like the food pantry deal... Or a Womans shelter or church....

But they may only take name brand bread in wrappers... for insurance issues...

These are all great ideas to do with bread. Our local food pantry doesn't take anything "homemade" including eggs.

I think I'm going to give the sweet bread one to my sewing teacher with a can of my blueberry jam, and the italian one I may turn into bread crumbs. I don't mind making bread each week and my freezer is full of meat and garden stuff.

As far as presents not arriving... I'm with you there. I mailed my dads gifts on the 16th. They left Scarborough Maine on the 17th at 0614. Nothing since then. The package could have hitchhiked to Virginia faster than priority mail. I'm just hoping that if someone did steal it they were very happy with their new gift of XXXXL tighty whitey undies with diapers sewn in (among other things in there but that was the gem).

That is insane..... Why wouldn't hungry poor people want homemade bread and backyard eggs?

That is right there with people bathing every day, and communities not letting people dig through construction trash!!!
