The Old Folks Home

Parents. That's how come I turned out so good. Daddy :love (and no, I'm not making this up) Got the LG up and running. It's missing a red plug and the entire thermometer thing (but from what I hear neither one are a big loss). Have to say though that the quality on this sucker is waaaaaaaay below what I was expecting. I had nicer "coolers" in college. It's already up to 72 and it's only been on a few minutes. It'll be cooking my fantasy eggs in just a few minutes, I'm sure.
ur dad looks like my kind of people. I would pull both red plugs out and set them to the side. I wouldnt add any water. I would get my temp right and not worry about humidity now.

We're at 108.5 currently... after I turned it down a few minutes ago. Pretty sure I'll be running it with one of the plugs in. It's awfully dry in this neck of the woods in winter, let alone with the pellet and wood stoves pulling even more moisture out. I haven't added any water - was more trying to fiddle with the temp. Glad I got this thing a few days before my eggs so I can get it right. A girl on the Maine thread is offering me the use of her Octagon (same thing that I have) if I can't get this LG right by Wednesday evening. I'm determined to get this right.

yeah im in southeast Alabama. Our climate is different

SCG, I'm with Bamadude on tossing the plug. It's not about the humidity, it's about the oxygen. Raising the humidity is not hard, keeping enough oxygen in there for the chicks is much more important. Make sure the lower vents are not blocked, as well.

With a wood stove and dry area, you should start by filling one tank. Humidity in the 35 to 40% range.
