The Old Folks Home

Yes it works. My bf said the sweetest sound he heard yesterday was the alarm clock and being able to hit the snooze buttons a few times.

Unfortunately one can not keep it on the rooster all day and night.

There is a fellow in Australia that puts all his roos in a night time coop especially sound proofed... It has pleanty of ventilation but the sound proofng is soo good they can only hear the roos if they are standing right next to the coop....

I dont remember his name... but I thing @ozexpat knows him.

They look great Peep I hope every one hatches for you!
I'll be up to my eyeballs in white chickens if they do, but a couple of dark-egging pullets would just butter my biscuit and jam it, too.

And the 2 ayam cemani roos with the crow reduction surgery are so loud we had to make them "shut up hats" for night time/early morning

I laughed SO HARD when I saw this. OMG!!! I hope they work for you. (Can you make them for spouses? Kids? There's your million $ idea)

Try catching a roo running away with the cup on his back, attached to him b/c ot loops under his wings.

Hard to catch something when you're trying not to pee your pants laughing. #dontcallPETA

Quote: I understand. I put a light in the first year I had chickens and then the frost bite got so bad I had to rub junk on them every night. So not most of my birds have rose or cushion comb. The ones that don't have done fine this year in the cold. So no more light except for the chicks. lol My Andalusian's and EE's don't lay in the winter. Your right they do deserve some time off. :)
I bought a few hatchery pullet chicks from the hardware store last year. I bought several, telling Hubby that I was thinking about selling the extra eggs to help defray the cost of keeping them . . . . There are 3 EE's, just because I have always liked the goofy things. All of the EE's we have had in the past laid eggs that were some shade of green or brown. Well, one of these gals is laying very pretty blue eggs, and Hubby is absolutely enchanted with them! "Who is laying the blue eggs? You ought to raise a bunch of those - they'd probably sell like crazy at the co-op!"

You'd think he'd know better than to encourage a person with both chickens and rabbits, wouldn't you?

Yup! lol

I had a blue egg layer last year but we sold so many birds I think she went to a new home. But I did get most of these to sell to a couple elderly couples that stopped by looking for some hens. I told them I would get them some and raise them up for them. They are very sweet people. DH don't like feeding them like that... :) I don't mind, I love the babies!

morning everyone! Sorry SCG! Didn't mean to send you our cold, honest! Please don't send us your snow, ok?
What about Alaskan??? Why isn't he getting some of this? When did Alaska get moved off Baja???

Hi Vehve and Wisher

Vehve-your other half's vehicle sounds like ours. Add towels, and what I call a "rescue pack" that has extra socks, hats and gloves. Up here we are likely to run across some dumdum from the city stuck in a snowbank at least once a season, wayyy under dressed for the weather. "But we just thought we would go for a ride north to see the pretty snow".

Look at any map of the US of A, they all put Alaska right off the southern coast of California.

but, we are actually wintery here... barely wintery, but wintery. Two inches of snow and in the single digits to the 20s.
