He was born in 1894. Wiki said he played characters that were older than him in most of his movies because of his thinness, odd voice and missing teeth that allowed him to wear dentures that made it look like he had bad teeth.

Quite a character.

His limp was a prop to help him look older. I remember seeing him on a show like the Merv Griffon show and he talked about it.
