Corrales -- the village I live in -- is THE horse capital of new Mexico. Each December they close off the main street and there's a parade of folks horses. It was amazing how many draft horses are here. Belgians seem to be the steed of choice and thus far I've counted only one black Percheron. While driving to art class today I found a street in Albuquerque where just about every block had either a horse feed store, tack store, equine clinic...really cool.
The next-door neighbor's mare is due to foal next month. A homozygous pinto bred to an Appaloosa.... A pintaloosa? I dunno. Cannot imagine what the coat could look like.

I must confess that I know just about zilch about Minorcas. But what was appealing was they're heat-hardy, lay large eggs, lay large eggs. What are their temperament? They lay large, but do they lay lots?
I heard about those murders in Tyrone. At first our news station was unclear what state it was in... We have a Tyrone, NM, with a population of about 10, which is what could be concluded because the news was coming over a local station. Waaaaay out in the boonies. It's kind of a gathering place for all the folks flung into the hills. Still, a sad situation no matter what state...

The snow bone doesn't lie! It has snowed all last night and all day today. Woke up to 4" of fluffy dry powder. Supposed to be snowing all weekend, too. A good weekend to hibernate.
