The Old Folks Home

Boy, do I have some grand daughters that would love that!

It was a pretty simple design and went together rather quickly, once it was cut out, if you want to make one:

I went to Staples to have it enlarged. It cost less than 10$ for that part. It's got close to 100$ worth of fabric, batting and thread in it, and I went to the discount fabric store, too. I'd say all total, start to finish, was between 10 and 12 hours of work, which is really good for a quilt. The directions say it's only 6 hours of crafting time, and maybe it would be if you had the pattern cut out already and ready to go and was a speed racer.

So you still have 3 chicken eggs and 5 turkey eggs right?

Yup.

Al, will your trees be okay with the budding then the snow? Are they used to that up there? Yes, it is "normal" to have hive die off over the winter. They were alive only a few weeks ago, but they got diarrhea real bad. The diarrhea could be infectious (nosema) or it could just be from eating high viscosity foods without a lot of water. I forgot to treat them in the fall for nosema (because fall came so quickly and was over really quickly) so it could be either one. The other hive is really weak but they were out yesterday flying around (and you could see they had diarrhea, too). I put on the nosema treatment about 2 weeks ago but they won't eat it (not the right time of year, but I was hopeful). Last year hives died off at the rate of about 50%, this year I've read 50-70% because it was such a long winter. My hive would have run out of food. Each fall I put an "insurance" pan of 16 lbs of sugar on each hive and both hives have eaten most of it, last year they had eaten about half. I'm glad I didn't forget that piece.

ew... the bee thing would stress me out I think.... hard for me to imagine a tiny little bee having the runs and not immediately keeling over.

I am high enough up that I only have one birch tree (that I planted), and it buds late.. the other trees by my house are spruce. I do have two apple trees that haven't died yet, and they didn't bud yet either.

So, we are good there... (thanks for asking

The only thing that had started growing was my neighbors rhubarb, the grass a little bit, and I think the flowers by my front door were starting to grow.... it will be interesting to see how they do.

Yup dude your sense of smell (and therefore also how things taste) will continue to improve if you get all the way there. Another thing that really helped me was reading the articles on how your body will recover from the smoking. I remember reading one that went all the way out to five years or so. It was very interesting. Keep up the good work man!
Miss Livvy is one adorable baby and really one of the least fussy babies I have ever seen. She does cry at times but it always is for a reason. Love that little munchkin. I have to go home tomorrow and it will be really hard although I was lucky enough to pick up a cold or something so I have been avoiding holding her much since I don't want to get her sick. She is very tolerant of us messing with her.
