I thought we could tell ripeness by squeezing and smelling.
Who squeezed and smelled sour?
More than are willing to admit.

we have the girls locked up cozy tonight and hoping the idiot coon can't get the door wiggled. She's a smarty. Old duke my dear departed buff gave the good fight looked like he wounded her pretty good, but lost overall. I do miss that crazy codger. Yeah we named him for John wayne he was a proud one mean when needed but nice all around. I got 8 rows into my rug and got so steaming mad I ripped it apart rewound the yarn and went out to check my girls and gave them treats. *cherries from the tree* and it looks like they will have a apple feast again this year as our trees are over producing. They are a spoilt bunch. Good year for crops but a struggle for my birds this year. As for doing things the old way .. I even tailor my clothes, and darn my socks. Which is unheard of for my age range. I can't remember the last time I went out and had new things. Except garden seedsLOL..welcome..you are going to fit in quite well on this thread!
Too bad about that ol racoon though. Hope you get em soon!
Hey!!! A lot of 70 year olds are pretty darn healthy...all things considered. I'm not that old, but I hears things.![]()
Anyway... Welcome!
Ya don't have to be old to like doing things the old ways. Though when I started doing things the old way is probably considered ancient to what you consider the old ways as you are younger than my "baby girl". If that makes any sense. Someday iPods will be considered ancient hocus pocus voodoo low tech.
