I want to add a hive next year. We kept bees when I was a child in North Pole. We'll see how it goes.

Hubby and I keep bees and chickens. We have about 40 chickens and 8 hives of bees. We have Russian honeybees and Italian honeybees. We harvested only 10 gallons of honey this year. Last year we got 13 gallons. We also make chapstick and lotion with the beeswax and honey.

I finally got the chance to read this... VEry interesting article... Not only does it explain the demise of the honey bee in the US but it also has a solution.....

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I am interested if the people here who have lost hives have done a closer examination of the whole hive and found mites....
