The Old Folks Home

No. Somehow our dogs opened one of the gates to the run and got them.

Ah darnit..

Better luck with the new ones coming.

Time to string up some dogs... sorry for the losses. What are egg orders? I haven't had any to sell in over a month! ****** slacker chickens! the few they do lay they eat before I can get them!

I have one group of 6 production reds that I still consistently get at least 4 eggs a day from. Some days 5. Saturday I got one that I'm sure will be a double yolk... ouch, it was a big one!
My lone female duck has only missed one day of laying since the beginning of September. My fru-fru chicks are more sporadic. My lavender orpingtons are my free-loaders! Only one of 7 started laying this year. I get an egg about every other day from her. The other 6 are lucky they are pretty.

I am loving all the different sewing projects on here. Alaskan, do you have a link to where you found that chicken quilt? It is really cute and I would like to see if I can find the pattern.
Here is what I am working on right now. This is a project for a friend's daughter who is going through a rough patch right now. She loves Warrior Cats (I had never heard of them before now). I am going to make the panels into an attic window style lap quilt and add a border or two to bulk up the size a bit. If I had thought of how small this would be, I would have started with bigger panels.

I finished the last panel this morning before we headed into work. Oh and it is snowing now, has been snowing since last night and is supposed to snow into tomorrow evening. Yay
BB2K went through a Warrior Cats phase - I don't know how many of the books she has, but it's a bunch. I seem to think she tried out for a part when someone was making a fanfiction video . . . got a different part; don't know if she voiced it or not.

Sorry to hear about the kit (Warrior Cats reference); I'm sure she'll love the quilt.

Chicka, I am sorry to hear about your chickens. Losing animals is always a bummer, but losing them to your own animals is infuriating!

I'll have to go digging in the closet to see if there's anything that will withstand a walk in the snow or mud.  Some leather is never the same once wetted.

Peep.... I always thought that high heels and fancy shoes were designed by men to keep us in our place!!!  I wish they put 'bling' on athletic shoes!!!  In bad weather they should go on the muck boots!

We've been having rain off and on all day today.... a blessing in our drought stricken area.  It has been good in that it has been a light 'farmers' rain... so it's soaking in!  The chickens aren't looking happy.... if a wet hen looks bad... look at a moulty wet one!

Up here you are expected to wear your uck outside boots and then at the door you take them off.... So good socks are nice.

A few priss types will bring a pair of nice shoes in a bag...
