Ah, time to slap me silly.

I think I just agreed to buy a milk goat.


A milk goat that is a crazy, like ten hour drive away.

If you speed you're welcome to my 2 milk goats. Slightly more than 10 hour drive. Have fun getting them through customs.

They will fit in an SUV but It will never be the same

I brought four nigerian dwarfs home in the back of a Geo Metro once.... about ninety miles of free goat.... well it wasnt free once I got home.... there were the bills they ate and the poo and pee and the burps... whew.... but my son and I giggled the whole trip.

My sister thinks I can wedge it into my biggest dog crate.


Me... I am not so sure.

If I could only cut the legs off, and stick them back on later.

Marek's is a virus. It is carried by wild birds. It is present in most states but very common in the south. It is not one of those 'fatal' things that the state has to control. It is impossible. The best approach is to breed for resistance. At least that is what our state vet says. It is believed that a couple of Guineans or a turkey on the farm will inoculate the chickens so that they build immunities.

They make the Merek's vaccine from Turkey virus... Unfortunately its incomplete for the job. Raising for resistance is good Vaccination only maskes the disease. Unforutnately the ones that wont make it shouldnt make it and be uthanized.

There are other vectors for Mereks though. Meal worms are one of them... uim or the beetle that the meal worms come from. the beetle scarfs up those dander flakes.... and voila all the meal worms it makes are carriers.

I got a full sized goat into the back of my Suzuki a couple years ago. A passenger is a must - they are on goat patrol and feed the goat cookies at regular intervals to reduce goat riots.
