Well Alaskan you can always post their photos at "what breed or gender is this." Are they born different colors - that would help.

That is the problem... A couple are going to look maybe identical.... The horror of the rooster being black, and dominant over all of the other colors in the pen, except the white Leghorns.


Ah well... Maybe I killed them all by opening the bator to put the divider in.... I put the divider in the most important spot, so at least the ones worth different prices are segregated.

Whatever... I see pips,,, but no one else hatched.

I will not peek until morning....

Only one hatched so far was the early chick... Interesting, it is a cross 1/8 high quality Black Copper Marans, 1/8 EE, 1/4 dunno but looked sorta like a Black Copper Marans, and 1/2 high quality Black Ameraucana dad. Intersting, is that mutt mom, is a nice warm brown, and is a pretty good egg producer of nice dark eggs. So... her chicks should be olive, or at least green eggers.

Anyway, early chick is all black, dad's black trumped mom's brown. Interesting since the brown mutt mom is brown, and was from a brown mom and dad that looked a bit like a black copper.

Whatever, that I didn't shrink wrap and kill them all... I shall report sometime tomorrow.

Alaskan, I opened my bator last weekend several times with pips. As long as humidity gets back up quick, and the pips arent large gaping holes, it should be fine!

So what did you use as a divider?

My one and only Buckeye hen went broody so we gave her 6 store bought brown eggs and 6 of our own hens eggs. They are due to hatch on Monday. My Buckeye hen went broody the day after we moved the chicks out to the coop and she heard their peeps. lol
This is her first time going broody and she is almost a year old. So we shall see what happens. We moved her into the nursery pen yesterday.

Scg I also have severe panic attacks when I go to the dentist. I have to take nerve pills to get in the chair and have the dentist nearly sedate me. I have a dentist appt. coming up to get all my bottom teeth pulled and have a denture put in. I had the top done 7 years ago.
But I am a nervous wreck just thinking about it!

Al I can't wait to see pics of your chicks and goats!

These were in the newspaper so I'm going to say they're safe for here. My mom clipped them out and mailed them to me after my last dentist appointment. The second one pretty much sums up that appointment.
